Kyoka's Quest: A My Hero Academia Tale

Chapter 15: New Beginnings

The next few days were kind of a blur for Izuku Midoriya & his friends. The royal family rewarded the heroes for their efforts with honorary medals, but Izuku was more concerned with visiting Shoto in a hospital Warp Gate took him to, so they all did that after the ceremony.

Momo: Todoroki, I'm so sorry. I was...

Shoto: Not yourself. It's ok, all you did was follow orders. Besides, the broken arms prevented me from being chipped so in a sense, you did me a favour.

Denki: How are you so chill about all this?

Shoto: Lots of spiritual therapy, my friend. Don't worry, I'll be out soon once the healers are done.

Izuku: Well...I wish you the best, Todoroki.

Whilst Shoto was recovering in the hospital, the heroes decided to do some sightseeing in order to pass the time. They did a lot of wholesome activities together like taking selfies in front of the landmarks (Denki, Kyoka & Momo couldn't resist recreating the iconic Beatles album cover when they saw Abbey Road).
Whilst they explored London, they noticed a lot of change in the atmosphere. Ben Harper became the new prime minister. The wall was being torn down all over the country & because of a shared experience, the local heroes & villains formed a truce in order to prioritise rebuilding the society they lived in. OctoPunish offered to go to prison alongside Nigel Morgan because he couldn't live with the guilt from sinking multiple refugee boats against his will.
During the walk, Momo was gleefully catching up with her friends, which gave Denki & Kyoka enough time to discuss something important.

Denki: So have you talked to her?

Kyoka: What do you mean?

Denki: You know...how you feel about her?

Kyoka: Um...kind of. I mean, she was brainwashed at the time, so I don't know if she fully registered everything.

Denki: I could tell when we were in the palace that she cares deeply about you. So I don't think you've got anything to worry about.

Kyoka: You really think so.

Denki: Course I do. You think I haven't been your friend long enough to notice when your heart leaps. So if you want a future with this woman, you better go for it because I believe it is fully possible.

Kyoka: Maybe when Yaomomo's ready, I'll get round to it.

Soon it was time for Team Deku to return to Japan. When everyone was at the airport, their new friends within Britain's pro hero society were here to say their goodbyes.

Lens Flare: It's been a pleasure getting to know you all these last few days.

Izuku: It's been a pleasure for us too.

Gregory: Things are gonna be awful quiet without you.

Izuku: Yeah. But this country will still be in safe hands.

Hydrella: Oi, Ejiro. Whatever happens, don't give up on your heroic ideals.

Ejiro: Ok.

After Team Deku said goodbye to the British heroes who aided them during this crisis, they boarded the plane provided to them by the World Heroes Association. Minoru, Denki, Mina, Ejiro, Tenya, Tsuyu and Shoto settled on watching different in-flight movies whilst Izuku and Ochaco allowed themselves time to relax whilst keeping an eye on the latter's motion sickness. A few hours later, Kyoka had gone to use the toilet & when she was finished, she was surprised to see Momo standing in front of her.

Kyoka: Oh, Yaomomo. Did I keep you waiting too long?

Momo: I'm not here to use the facilities, Kyoka. I'm actually here to talk to you.

Kyoka: Ok?

Momo: Mind if we go somewhere private?

Kyoka: Where would that be?

Momo took Kyoka's hand & guided her to the back of the plane, placed the snack basket outside & closed the curtain. Kyoka didn't know what was going on in Momo's brain, but it looked like the everything hero meant business.

Momo: I want to thank you for saving my life.

Kyoka: Oh, it was nothing. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Besides, if it was me who went missing, you would've gone through the same lengths to save me. After all, we are friends.

Momo: About that...you told me something. Something that must have been very personal to you.

Kyoka: What do you mean? WAIT...you don't mean?

Momo nodded casually, blushing ever so slightly.

Kyoka: OH MY GOD!!! YOU HEARD ALL OF THAT!!! I-I-I-I-I was in the heat of the moment. I didn't think you'd hear me in your mind controlled state. It wasn't even sure if you'd be your normal self again. Hold on...does that mean you also felt...

Momo again nodded casually.

Kyoka: CRAP!!! WHAT HAVE I DONE!!! There is no way our friendship is gonna recover after that. Our situation is gonna be forever awkward.

Momo couldn't help but start laughing. It didn't matter how much she was hiding it by putting her hand over her mouth, Kyoka's panic stricken embarrassment was further intensified.

Kyoka: That's not funny, Yaomomo. I don't know how we can go back to normal.

Momo: You don't have to.

Kyoka: Say what now.

Without hesitation, Momo leaned down slightly & kissed Kyoka. The kiss was longer than before, but just as surprising as Kyoka had no idea how to feel right now. She was about to close her eyes & embrace it, but Momo then stopped.

Momo: See. Now we're even.

Kyoka: I..I...I...Wow. Wait...what does that mean?

Momo: It means I love you too Kyoka.

Kyoka: How long?

Momo: A really long time. The longer we've been friends, the more fond I've become of you.

Kyoka: So...all this time.....you've loved me?

Momo: Of course. I didn't buy us a house for us to live in so that we wouldn't see if we'd be compatible.  Trust me, I'd spent a lot of my life doubting my worth as a hero & how I feel about you is something I never had any doubts about.

Kyoka: Momo...I...

And then the two heroes kissed each other once again, lost in a fire of passion that was no longer bottled up. Sure, their friends will want to know everything about them & the media will be obsessed once they find out. But none of that mattered right now because they were two superpowered women in love, enjoying each other's company & their newfound status as a couple.
