Divya sat on the edge of the oversized bed. Darsh had spent the last forty-eight hours lobbying the entire family to postpone the festivities, but Divya had shut him down with a single, fiery look.

She was just bracing herself to reach for the glass on the nightstand when the heavy cabin door burst open. Darsh practically tumbled inside, his chest heaving as if he’d just sprinted a marathon. He quickly kicked the door shut with his heel and leaned against it, huffing like a man who had narrowly escaped a high-speed chase.

"Kya hua? Why are you breathing like you just robbed a bank?" Divya asked, half-amused and half-concerned as she tried to stand up.

"Arre, baitho! Hilna mat," Darsh commanded, waving a frantic hand at her as he rushed to her side. He dropped onto the edge of the bed, finally catching his breath. "Wo dono Bhabhiyon ne mera peecha kar liya tha. Siya and Ritika are patrolling the hallways like border security just to keep me away from you until the engagement. Par Darsh Rajvansh ko uski 'Tadka' se milne ko toh khud khunkhaar Harsh Malhotra bhi nahi rok sakte... toh ye unki betiyan kis khet ki muli hain?”

Divya’s eyebrows shot up, her protective streak for her father flaring up instantly. She reached out and gave his arm a light, warning smack. "Mere Papa ko khunkhaar kaha tune? Himmat kaise hui?"

"Arre, chhor na! Focus, Divya," he countered. He scanned the nightstand, his sharp eyes landing on the unopened blister pack of pills. "Dawa khayi tune?”

She looked at the medicine, then back at his narrowed eyes, and let out a small, sheepish smile that practically screamed guilty.

"Dekha! I knew it!" Darsh groaned, throwing his hands up in mock exasperation. "Kuch hosh rehta hai tumhe? Minutes ago, you were lecturing me about responsibility and being a mature adult, and here you are, skipping the one thing that’s keeping you on your feet. Mujhe bada gyaan deti hai zimmedari ka!”

"Bhul gayi thi yaar.” She muttered.

He popped the tablets out of the foil. He shifted closer, his thigh pressing against hers, and reached for the crystal water carafe. He poured a glass, checking the temperature with the back of his hand before holding it out to her.

"Chalo, sit properly. Back straight," he instructed. He held the tablets out in his palm, waiting until she took them.

"Ahhh, it’s so bitter!" she gasped, sticking her tongue out. "Darsh, seriously... I’m going to vomit.”

Darsh, who was watching her with a mix of amusement and genuine concern, gestured toward the nightstand. "Arre... chocolates di thi na tujhe saath mein khane ko?”

"Khatam ho gaya!" Divya retorted, her voice sounding small and desperate. She reached for the water carafe again, draining the glass in one go, but the medicinal tang refused to budge. "Dusri le aa... kuch bhi! Anything to change the taste, Darsh. It’s disgusting. I feel like I just licked a rusted pipe."
