It was a blissful and pleasant morning in Bihar. The soft morning sun rays scattered around the village, colouring the sky with orange hues. The birds chirped in sync.
In the guest house, it was pin drop silence disturbed only by the soft and steady breath of Sagar, Abhinav and Ved. They were still asleep, why wouldn't they. It was not their shift today. That means no running to hospital, no assisting fellow doctors or guiding nurses and juniors.
It was quite a relief for them.
Since last night, after shift, they were really tired. So, they slept in the living room itself. Ved was sprawling on the couch with his leg dangling down, Sagar thet sleepiest among them laid flat on the floor right beside the couch with a rolled towel under his head as a pillow. Abhinav was sleeping half on the floor, half on top of Sagar.
The scene was almost comical, the three of them, known as one of the most diligent doctors and surgeons in the hospital sprawled like strays, sleeping like it's their last day in the world.
Though, their peaceful sleep was broken by the sound of a loud, shriek alarm.Well, it wasn't music. It was a song. Well, a good song to groove but not for now.
The music grew louder and louder, making Abhinav and Ved groan. Ved covered his ears grabbing cushion from the couch he was sleeping on while Abhinav buried his face under the small space of couch as if it would cave him from the loud music.
Sagar, who actually had settled the alarm, still slept soundly as if he was immune to everything right now.
Ved, the ever grumpy one in mornings groaned louder as the alarm kept ringing. Worst? Him and Abhinav, both still lying and closed eyes, tried to find where Sagar's phone was ringing.
At last when they couldn't find it, Abhinav got up with a jerk, his face showing pure frustration despite his sleepy features.
