no, which boy?

the conversation above was an exact representation of how all of liam's situationships ended up looking like. ever since he graduated from high school the desire to meet someone, make it official and be in a stable relationship was something liam truly craved. it felt strange seeing everyone around him already settling down at the same stage of life that liam is on, while he still couldnt even find someone who could love, like, or even just tolerate him.

every time he met someone new, someone who he thought was a faultless match - it swiftly ended after they got to know liam better.

there were a few boys, three to be exact, with whom liam really got along - at least for a span of a moment. lucas was what liam has been looking for this whole time - tall and tanned, nice and caring. and hell, he even liked the same kind of music as liam. was he sent from heaven?

that was what he thought at first.
liam couldn't help but wonder whether this would last longer than four days if he had accted differently. lucas became infuriating, noisy, and humiliating in public spaces.

liam definitely could call himself a clingy person. he absolutely adored physical affection and the concept of sticking by someone's side the whole time, not even thinking about letting them go. yet, every outing with lucas went the same - at the end liam wasn't anything other worn out, fatigue written all over his face.

lucas ended things smoothly, sending liam a message, stating that he apparently felt not seen enough. all that due to liam's behaviour, obviously - no, he doesn't want to hold hands while eating mcdonald's fries. no, he doesn't want to kiss every three fucking second while being in class.

there's one thing that liam was grateful for. one person, more like. his best friend - zayn, whom he met in middle school and shortly became friends with. zayn was there for liam and he knew that he could count on him as well. they never turned their backs on each other, not even after liam's coming out. they were basically inseperable.

whilst zayn was also pain in liam's ass sometimes, having him as a friend had its perks. aside from being a mental support for liam, he also ran errands. it was quite easy - whenever liam left something, a piece of clothing for instance, at a boy's house, he immediately would ask zayn to go there and bring it back home.

originally, it was a simple. liam explained himself pretty well, saying that he didnt want to see that certain person again, so sending zayn away was easy and hassle-free. but after a while, liam noticed a pattern. every time he would send zayn off and make him show up at liams exes' doorstep, liam would get a message from them asking who the fuck zayn was, making it seem as if they were confused about zayn being liams new boyfriend. and honestly? liam likes it when people are jealous of him. he never responds to these messages, but he likes seeing them. or maybe he likes the idea of people thinking that zayn was his boyfriend.

he wouldnt mind having zayn as his boyfriend, though. and that might be the answer to his problem - the problem of finding every other boy boring and being unable to settle down. but he prefers to push that thought aside.

"you really should stop forgetting about your shit" zayn randomly said, moments after returning to their shared apartment, just coming back from lucas - or whatever the fuck his name was. zayn stopped remembering their names, as there was literally no point in doing so.
