Int. Lounge -             Night

Three young adults; two guys and one girl sit spread out on two couches. Two of them are evidently a couple, the singleton looks anxious, perhaps waiting for is girlfriend to arrive, perhaps he is an anxious person. They drink beer, smoke what could be cigarettes, a hubbly is lit in front of the single guy; he smokes deeply.

Lucas/Guy #1

You want some guys?

Amy

Not me, I’ve got cigs...do you babe?

Jack

No. Cigs, beer, I’m cool.

Lucas

I’m starving...when’s that delivery guy getting here?

Amy

I know it has to have been an hour.

Jack

Guys...cigs, beer, we’re cool.

Lucas

Yeah you’re right...it’s just not like them.

Jack

Why? Do you order from them daily? Do you know all of the delivery men personally?

Lucas

No but –

Jack

But nothing. Its freezing out there, the poor guy probably stopped to get some cigs and decided to stuff himself. Wouldn’t you?

Lucas

I suppose...screw the job...its always different on the other side of things.

Jack

Exactly, its like a waitress. They expect those girls to be happy and smiling and attentive to every single customer for the entirety of their shift but what if just before you arrived someone ordered a huge meal and left them with like 1 rand. You don’t know how someone you have never met feels or is feeling.

Amy

Okay Jack, we get it, the delivery guy’s a lazy piece of shit you don’t need to give us a lecture defending his motives.

Jack

All I’m saying is that each person experiences a separate life.

Lucas

All I’m saying is that I think the beers are kicking in.

Amy

Haha yeah babe and we haven’t even started.

Jack

What ever, both of you’ll be knocked out before I decide to kick it tonight.

Lucas

Screw it, I don’t care how lazy or upset this delivery guy is I’m going to get something to eat.

Jack

But the food’s on its way

Lucas

Not anything heavy, something like chips...snacks...you guys want anything?

Amy

Ice cream...

Jack

Ice cream? It’s the middle of winter.

Amy

Doesn’t make it taste any different...you know my favourite Luke, please.

Lucas
