Bella

I woke up to the sound of rain dribbling against the stone floor outside my window. The sky was dark, matching my mood. All I wanted to do is pull the covers of my bed over my head and go back into the world of blissful dreams and escape reality. Today was the night of my family's annual new years eve ball, every noble in the kingdom comes and that includes the royal family

Which is saying something because they are the bitchy people in the Caldarion, they think money and blood is everything and they're hated for it by the common people and lower rated nobles and me of course.

I hate this place. It isn't my home and it was never my home. The only place I have felt at home is when I'm at sea, because of that I've been planning my escape for the last five years and tonight was the night it was going down. I trained my body and mind the last couple of years at night while being the perfect noble daughter during the day. My thoughts were interrupted by the door of my room opening with a knock.

"Miss Cross its time for breakfast your family is waiting" one of the maid said in a rude tone forcing me out of bed and into my first outfit of the day, a long light green dress, i stare into the mirror as the maid ties my long dark red hair back into a braid that falls all the way down my back to rest by my hips. I wear very little make up, just some red lip gloss and dark green eye shadow that makes my eyes seem brighter than they are.

The maid actually pushed me out the door, down the stairs and into the dining room. As I walk to the table that sits in the middle of the room I nod my head to my parents and older siblings. "I apologize for being late father" I say sincerely hoping he's in a good mood.

"It's fine just don't be late this evening" he replied, he's in a good mood thank the gods, taking a sip from what I assumed was his morning tea. My eyes scanned over him and the rest of my family. My mother was wearing an outfit very similar to mine but it was a light blue shimmery kind of fabric, her long flowy sleeves seemed to follow her as she moved, grabbing a piece of toast to eat. My eldest brother Felix was in a dark green suit the matched hes eyes, my brother was the kingdoms favorite bachelor but he opposite of his sunny demeanor that he shows to the rest of the world he was an abusive asshole like my father, my father was wearing also the exact same suit that Felix had on. Felix and my father look some what a like but I'm like the female version of my father we have the same nose the same eye and hair color and we're about the same height, me at 5'7 and him at 5'8, the only thing the is different from him is I have my mothers eye shape if that makes senses. My other two brothers are wearing matching light blue suits.

I sit down next to my younger brother and begin eating. The hall stays silent as our breakfast slowly is consumed by our six hungry stomachs. As we begin to stand up to leave the hall my father clears his thorght to get our attention.

"I hope you all will behave yourself at the ball tonight, it is as always an important event that keeps our standing in society high and mighty and our place next to the royal family secure. You may go now and begin preparing yourself for tonight.

Instead of going back to my room I went to the library and grabbed my favorite book off the desk in the center of the room and opened up to the marked page, I looked down at the words. Reading them always gives me a sense of nostalgia, the memory of my grandmother's words bring me into a blissful state. Her stories about dragons and mermaids always without a doubt soothed my heart and my mind.
