"Silhouetted in the doorway, a picture framed to horrific perfection..."
The grey-haired girl paused, leaving the air heavy for a moment with fear and tension.
"Wolf-Man."
Her parents shuddered, and then smiled. Her father clapped softly, the applause seemingly tremendous amongst the silence of the near-midnight hour.
"Amazing story, sweetie," he grinned. "Congratulations again on winning the competition."
The girl smiled broadly and hugged her dad, then her mum, who kissed her on the cheek.
"We're so proud of you."
A metallic clang echoed from the kitchen, and the three of them froze.
Gesturing for the others to stay quiet, the father stood from the edge of the bed and crept toward the door, reaching out to open it -
With a monumental bang the door flew open, and the father was knocked violently to the floor. The man standing in the doorway raised his masked face to the ceiling, and howled, lifting a long, slender gun and pulling the trigger -
