I opened the door slowly and saw Officer Bates standing near one of the soda machines trying to fish one out of the bottom slot.

"Officer Bates?" I asked him nervously. He looked startled by my question, I guess he didn't realize that he wasn't alone either. "Well absolutely Quinn, how are you? DIdn't see you in the halls last week, where've you been?" He asked with an innocent smile playing at his lips.

"I went with the family on a trip to see some relatives. How are you, Bates?" It was hard to pay attention to what he was saying because of his sculpted body attracting my eyes away from his...

I couldn't help myself wondering what it'd feel like with his hands all over me, how I wanted to feel his lips matching mine in sync. He stood up tall with his body so erect looking me over with those peircing eyes as he's handing me a soda.

He started to tell me how his life was going and he carried on about some police academy training and how his body was sore from all of the physical training. I looked into his green orbs as I listened to him, watching his lips move and how beautifully they formed his words.

He paused....

Shit! He caught me daydreaming staring at his mouth! I glanced back up to his eyes and hardened my look a bit so I looked more interested in his story but I don't think he bought it. I was honestly interested in what he was saying, it was just hard trying to focus....okay, you know what I'm getting at. He lowered his eyes taking a closer step toward me. I took a small step back as he stepped forward noticing he was returning my gaze.

"Bates...." I whispered. I didn't think I'd said that out loud, I guess I did because he replied, "Yes, Quinn?" "I-" my breath hitched and was stuck in my throat, I'm such an idiot. He smiled a playfully yet seductive smile. He had to have known that I'm nervous. "You know? You're not like all the other girls around here, Quinn. You're mostly quiet when you are switching classes, you don't stop to talk much. Even when we have our chats, you only seem like yourself when not many people are around, but there's something about you that's....bittersweet. You seem like you cut loose but at the same time you're so innocent and it's attractive."

Whoaahh. Did he just say that? I never expected to hear anything like that come out of his mouth. I mean, we've always smiled or winked at each other in the halls or had our flirty convos but nothing was said like this. "and what makes you think you are equal to all those other guys?" I replied curiously. "Oh I don't. That's what divides me from them. Most guys in this school have only one thing on their mind, even while playing football." That made us both chuckle. "But, they are young also, so..." he ended that with a small shrug of his shoulder.

"You aren't much older than they are." I said raising my eyebrows at him with a smirk. "I guess you're right about that. A few more months and I'll be 29." He admitted. "what?!" I thought you were older than that?" I asked surprised. "So what are you trying to say, that I'm an old man?" He laughed. "No, I'm saying you are beautiful and you look older than eighteen and I'm surprised you aren't dating one of these little teeny boppers that drool all over you day by day and anyone would be out of their minds not to be with you."

Damn, what just got into me? I never really speak out like that in front of a super hot guy especially if we haven't previously dated. Well, there's no going back, he already knows how I feel. I looked back at him wondering what he may be thinking. God I hope I didn't just screw things up. Even if he doesn't think I'm attractive I don't want to ruin our friendship.

Well, bottoms up. No going back now. Unexpectedly, he slowly walked up to me staring into my eyes as he gently took my soda out of my hand and put it on the table beside us without looking away. He put his strong, lightly calloused hand on my right cheek, it felt as if it covered from my hairline down to my chin.

"What if I said I wanted that from you?" He asked me with half of a smile.

"What if I said that's all I've ever wanted from you?" I answered him nervously feeling my knees getting weak on the verge of wobbling.

We stared deeply into each other's eyes feeling the electricity for one another, he stroked my cheek softly with the back of his fingers and lowered his head towards mine. As his lips almost met mine, he whispered, "I've always wanted you Quinn, just been waiting for you to break the ice.."
