Bitten and Broken

Defeated

They finally made it to the airport, where there was supposed to be transport to get them out of here. But there was nothing. She was breathless, legs wobbly as she leaned against the railing to make sure she would stay standing. She looked back at everyone who looked just as confused as she was. Were they abandoned, or did they think they were dead? Lux held her side before pulling her hand back to see that she was bleeding. She wasn't sure when she got hurt like this; was it from Crowley or Mika? Looking down to her side, she could see a gash there, bleeding heavily. Shinoa and the others noticed this as well, and they rushed to her side.

"You're hurt?" Yoichi looked at her with concern.

"I don't even remember getting hurt this badly. Crowley hit me pretty hard. Maybe that's what it's from."

She kept pressure on her side, but was feeling weak from the blood loss. Of course, she could handle two vampires drinking from her, but this was going to be what killed her? One of Narumi's squad members walked up to Shinoa.

"This is all your fault."

She hit her. Lux stepped away from the railing as Shinoa held her hand out, stopping the team from coming closer. Not that there was much Lux could do in this moment.

'You're going to let me die?' she called to her demon.

.:. No. You're not going to die. But if you're not careful. I'll possess you. .:.

Honestly, Lux wasn't sure if she had the strength to keep the demon at bay; she had to try, though, or he would go after her friends. Shinya put a stop to them trying to kill Shinoa, giving the team a chance to breathe. Lux looked over to him as he spoke. He and Narumi argued back and forth over the situation they were in, and while she didn't agree with Shinoa being killed, she understood the frustration. They protect Mika, most of the remaining squads were killed, and now they were left here waiting for the remaining vampires to attack. They were sitting ducks. Lux grabbed a hold of the railing again, trying to stay awake. After everything she had been through, she wasn't just going to lie down and die. Her team still needed her, especially without Yu here to help them. Narumi seemed to have enough as he walked away, determined to rescue Guren. Other troops followed behind him. Shinya seemed to agree with this plan as he looked to Shinoa's squad, wondering if they would do the same. Her team looked back at Lux, who groaned.

"Fuck it. Let's do it."

They looked back at Shinya and nodded. As they started to head out, helicopters could be heard in the distance. Lux pulled all the strength she could as she readied herself for another fight. But Shinya informed them they were part of the demon army. This caused her to relax a bit. As they made their way to the planes, Lux used her sword to keep her standing. She stood between Kimizuki and Yoichi. When a man stepped off the plane, she heard Yoichi say how he was the one who tortured them. Lux didn't have a clue who he was, but he looked important.

"You can disarm and relax, my team will take it from here." He spoke out to the crowd.

Shinoa looked uneasy and told them to stay ready to fight. As the back of the plane opened, Lux watched as a shipping container was unloaded from it. The container was lifted higher into the air, and it gave Lux a bad feeling as she stared up at it. Narumi had called out the man before he unsheathed his blade, as if he was going to kill him. Lux stepped back when the top of the container opened, while hundreds of daggers exploded from it.

"Shinoa?" Lux called out, wondering what was going on.

Before she could give her an answer, the daggers rushed at Narumi, and he struggled to hold them back before some screamed out. Everyone looked to the cause of the noise, and Lux's eyes widened. Many of the soldiers were impaled by the blades. Many of whom were the remainder of Narumi's squad members. He yelled out before charging after the man responsible for the attack. When he was pushed back, more daggers lined up ready to kill him where he stood, Kimizuki and Yoichi blocked them. Lux and Shinoa rushed to help. Even though she was badly injured and weak, seeing this massacre sent adrenaline pumping through her body, giving her a bit more strength to fight.

"We need to retreat."

Lux, Kimizuki, Yoichi, Narumi, and Shinoa turned and ran for safety. Lux could feel the daggers closing in as she turned and blocked them with her sword. Shinoa wasn't going to be able to block them in time.

"Shinoa!" Lux called out.

Yu jumped in front of her, blocking the daggers. Lux cut back on them before stepping back away from them. Even Mika walked up. She could see now his eyes were no longer blue, but red like the other vampires. The daggers again came after them; they all fought with their lives to keep them back. One skimmed the back of Lux's leg, almost causing her to buckle as she jumped back. She could feel blood running from the new wound. She gritted her teeth. She wasn't going to be able to keep fighting like this. She was really going to die here.

"Come on, let's go!"

Lux didn't need to be told twice as she struggled to run, barely able to keep up with her team. They slid to a stop when they saw more helicopters coming in, but these weren't from the demon army; these were from the vampires. Non-nobles dropped down, ready to attack. They had to continue to move forward, and as they cut through whatever vampires got in their way, they kept running. Ahead of them, Guren was there; relief washed over her until he raised his sword to Yu, striking down at him. Mika blocked the attack before they began fighting. Mika struggled to keep up with him before he was knocked back. Lux joined her team's side, staring at him; his eyes were red. Was he possessed? He ran past them as he started to attack not only vampires, but also the humans as well. As the bodies fell, the daggers from the container stabbed through their corpses. It seemed to be draining them. The container exploded. A bright ball of light rose from the remains. They stared up at it. As the light faded, what looked like a human girl with wings floated in the sky.

"Mirai!" Kimizuki called out, looking up to the figure.

He knew her? She looked like an angel. As she lifted her hand, a trumpet formed in front of her before she blew into it. The very ground under them started to shake. As rocks burst through the ground, Lux was knocked down. What the hell was going on?! She stared up in fear at the figure. Before what looked like chains with talismans wrapped around her. Holding her in place. Where were they trying to capture her? Kimizuki looked so distraught over this. Who was she to him?

"That's my sister!" He yelled, charging for her.

Lux was shocked as she watched him. Why was his sister like this? Guren was standing there before stabbing through Kimizuki, stopping him in his place. She cried out seeing this. Yu and Mika charged after him. Lux stood on shaky legs.

"Shinoa, what's happening?!" She struggled to walk to her team.

"I don't know."

They watched as Mika gave Yu the chance to kill Guren. But he didn't take it; he just stood in front of him with his head hung low. Yu grabbed him, trying to figure out why he was turning on them, but Guren just smiled before stabbing Yu as well. As he fell, Mika ran to his side. Guren just started to laugh as he stared at his blood-soaked sword. A black fog erupted from Kimizuki's sister before forming what looked to be a giant dragon. Something exploded from it falling to the ground. Four Horsemen of John formed and began to attack not only the humans but also the vampires, something they had never done before.

"We need to retreat," Shinoa called out to them.

Lux nodded, using her sword to help her move, while Yoichi helped Kimizuki. He shoved him off, walking towards his sister, determined. His wound was too much, though, as he fell to his knees. Lux stood by Shinoa. As she looked over, she could see Mika carrying Yu to safety. Lux looked back at the beast, which hadn't made its next attack yet. Lux's legs gave in, causing her to fall to the ground. She cursed as Shinoa kneeled, trying to help bring her to her feet. She could feel herself slipping out. This was it. This was how she was going to die.
