"This is it?" Kenji mutters, leaning forward in-between Y/N and Sammy, "I thought it would be... bigger. And fancier."

"We're still on the outskirts..." Sammy pulls up the tablet, "But the company calendar said this is where the integration event is happening, whatever that is."

"And Dodgson responded 'yes', so..."

Y/N pulls back, parking beside the other vehicles, "I guess we'll just have to wait until he shows up."

Smoothie sits on the dashboard while they wait, pawing at the little cat-eared knitted hoodie he's wearing, which has fallen down to cover his eyes.

Sammy stews, irritated, but she can't be mad when her favorite baby is around, "Aww! Smoothicito!" She coos, "Want me to take those off?"

She pulls the hood of his eyes, going to unfasten the bottom, but Smoothie squeals, seemingly in protest.

"Okay, okay, we'll leave them on." She relents.

Kenji shifts around the car, his butt in Y/N and Sammy's faces as he rustles through the trunk in search of anything useful, "Ugh! Why doesn't Gia have a stun prod, or a net launcher? Very irresponsible."

"I don't think those are the types of things you're supposed to use on people." Y/N points out, leaning away from Kenji's backside.

"Especially people you want something from." Sammy reminds, cringing at the proximity of her face with Kenji's butt.

"Fine!" Kenji huffs, sitting back in his seat, "Be logical! But I still don't like that all we have to face down an evil corporate overlord is an ice scraper and a dork... purse!" He holds up a mini backpack.

"Speaking of..." Y/N looks out the front windshield as an older man emerges from a nearby, solitary elevator, a few other people trailing behind him.

"Is that him?" Sammy whispers as if the man can hear them.

The man turns, his face revealed to the trio. Kenji's expression sours, "Yeah. That's him."

"I think we should--" Before Y/N gets to finish, Kenji climbs out of the car, slamming the door behind him and stomping off.

"Kenji?" Y/N stammers, "Okay, we'll just--" He turns to Sammy, but she quickly gathers Smoothie into the bag and exits the car as well.

"Fine, let's just go in blind." He huffs, getting out and speed walking to catch up.

"Kenji!" Sammy whisper-shouts after him, "Kenji, wait! Don't do anything you'll regret!"

An alarm begins to sound, big red lights atop a gate inside the dinosaur enclosure blinking. Kenji stops in his tracks with a gasp.

The gate opens and a large T-Rex stomps out, letting out a bellowing roar before turning its cheek and walking towards the trees.

Dodgson begins clapping to himself, the clueless people behind him slowly joining in.

Kenji returns to his pursuit, stopping behind the man, "Lewis Dodgson."

"We finally got the T-Rex here." The man sighs wistfully, not turning around, "Two of the world's biggest apex predators in one ecosystem. Well, land predators, at least."

"I can't wait to see how she interacts with the Giganotosaurus. Will they battle it out? Learn to coexist?"

He pauses a moment, glancing back at the trio when none of them speak, "You do realize this is the first time in human history anyone is witnessing this, yes?"
