When my so-called agent — Ken, told me I'd be starring in a romcom with Evelyn fucking Hadley, I almost threw up right there on his overpriced office rug.
You'd think that kind of news would be good, right? Like, "wow, Catalina, congrats! You're finally making it big!" But let's get one thing straight — excitement was not what made me nauseous.
No, I was sick because Evelyn Hadley is... well, Evelyn Hadley. The human equivalent of a glitter bomb — sparkly, dramatic, and impossible to clean up after. She's basically the Kardashians, Taylor Swift's PR team, and a Category 5 hurricane all rolled into one walking headline.
And somehow, I have to work with her.
Ken tried to sell it to me like it was the opportunity of a lifetime. "This is your big break, Catalina!" he said. "America's sweetheart meets the new girl on the rise!"
Yeah, except America's sweetheart once threw a shoe at a director. True story. (Allegedly.)
My career is barely crawling out of the trenches, and the last thing I need is Evelyn Hadley dragging it back down with her designer heels. I told myself to stay calm, and stay far away from her.
So yeah. Maybe I didn't throw up because I was nervous.
Maybe I threw up because deep down, I already knew I was doomed.
