I reacted '😂' on their messages, and somehow I just found myself smiling.

Laughing—even— at their banter, but when my laugh slowly died down—I noticed, the quiet, and the difference, between the place and the people.

I smiled at myself, setting aside my phone, while looking deeply through the greenery.

There’s no laughing Zuriyah here, no playful Soul, no charming Keijo, no malambing like Dalia, and no Adelaide.

My shoulder slumped at that thought. People make the place a little different, and the difference that they make—is that, the place looks peaceful but not homely.

I let out a sigh.

“Nak, tama na yang cellphone. May ilog malapit dito, nag-aaya sila Terisita.

I agreed, sino bang hindi gaganahan kumain sa labas ‘di ba? and... it's a first experience for me.

Magliwaliw.

Magsaya.

I pursed lips and grunted as I lift my body to follow Manang, when we approach the picnic table—the food was already placed.

I looked at them, happily laughing and sharing stories, while the light perfectly illuminated a soft warm glow, the moment was perfect.

So I joined them, with a smile.

Always, with a smile.

Manang clasps her hand, “Nak, nagluto ako ng paborito mong cauliflower,” pinakita nya yun, cauliflower dip in egg and then fried.

“Thank you manang,” I softly said and took a few.

Napailing ako, the vague memory didn't resonated with me.

I pouted. Pati si Mang Kanor nakisabay.

The day ended with them laughing about the food, cauliflower, and my love for it.
