Picture this. A city, full of massive buildings, massive companies and millions of people. On one apartment building lives me. An eighteen-year-old, blond haired, green eyed, 5"11 animator that spends his free time sitting on the edge of a sixty story building flipping quarters while talking to himself.

I have no friends and I am anything but special. B-average in school and an Bachelor's Degree of Animation. I can't even do a single chin-up for that matter. A voice comes from behind, startling me, "Kyle, what do you think you're doing"? "Ack!" Is the only that comes out of his mouth as he slips off the edge, only managing to grab the ledge at the last second. While pulling myself back up, The only thing Kyle could possibly say was "J-just, r-relaxing, D-Derek". Why am I always so terrified of him? He's been tormenting me for over a decade now! I'm an adult, why am I so scared of him! "I have to get to work now" Kyle says as Derek looks at him as if he's questioning the fact that that's the real reason I'm leaving. "At least he did have anything that would set off my asthma" Kyle said to himself.

Kyle walked the usual 11 kilometres to the studio. When he got there he went straight to the animation hall. "Kyle, I need you to touch up on this episode's character dimensions. " We don't want another episode 5 do we" my boss says as he hands me a folder. "I'll get right on it" he replies.  Kyle animate for another 10 hours before I go home.

Maybe I should go for a hike, just calm down. "So, I should take some hiking boots a walking stick and a knife, just in case I get attacked by a wolf or something" he says to himself. Kyle headed down to the forest and took the longest trail. This is pretty nice,  just being out in nature. Ssssssssssssss. "Is there anybody there" I call out. If nobody's there then, that means it's a snake. I drop the walking stick and draw my knife. Then, I see it. A python. I ran, I ran faster than ever before, I didn't even think I could run that fast. I must've run for kilometres. With that constant hissing on my back, I was motivated to run. Then, in front of me out of nowhere, there was a ravine. I have to jump that. Otherwise, I'm going to be that snake's next meal. It looks about six metres across, so I may be able to jump it. I breathe in and jump.

I get my arms over but my chest slams into the wall knocking the wind out of me. I roll over onto my back and lie there, catching my breath. "Ow" seemed to be the only thing he could say after that. Then it hits him like a brick wall. I don't where I am. I'm lost. This forest is over 170,000 square kilometres. I don't know how far across that ravine reaches. Plus, I won't be able to jump it without the adrenaline of having to run from a snake. It could be days, even weeks before I get around and even then I may have to walk the entire forest before I get out.
"Well, I guess now would be a good time to rest. I'll make a shelter and head out in the morning". I have to stop talking to myself. Kyle starts collecting logs to make a small hut.
And with that the story of Kyle Gates begins
