The next morning, Riley is eagerly eating cereal. Inside Headquarters, Joy is dancing around playing her accordion. She passes Laughter, Surprise & Interest's room and they all peek their heads out.
Laughter: Guys, Joy is playing her accordion! You know what that means?
Surprise: Morning jam session!
Interest: I'll get my bass!
The three emotions poke their heads back in. Meanwhile, Joy passes Anger, Fear & Disgust's room. They are all a little tired.
Joy: Hello! Did I wake you?
Anger: Do you have to play that?
Joy: Well, I have to practice and I don't think of it as playing so much as hugging! (hugs her accordion)
Passing by are Laughter playing her tambourine, Surprise playing a marching bass drum and Interest playing his bass guitar. The other emotions stare at them in confusion.
Interest: What?
Joy: Okay. (tosses her accordion and runs down) First day of school! Very very exciting!
Excitement: I'm with you on that!
Joy: I was up late last night figuring out a new plan. And here it is!
The rest of the emotions walk downstairs.
Joy: (points to Fear) Fear!
Fear: (gets startled and drops his pencil for his pad and then picks it up)
Joy: I need you to list all of the possible negative outcomes on the first day of the new school.
Fear: (to Joy) Way a head of you. (looks around) Does know how to spell "meteor"?
Smartness: (off-screen) I do. It's "M-E-T-E-O-R".
Fear: (off-screen Thank you)
Joy: (to Worry) Worry, I need you to alarm Riley in case there's an important emergencies going on during school. Such as fire alarms, bad accidents, meetings, announcements from the principal, etc.
Worry: Got it under control Joy. (walks away)
Joy: Boredom, I want you to make sure Riley has some fun and entertainment at recess and lunch.
Boredom: Gotcha covered. (He goes to the couch and plays with his phone)
Disgust, Envy, Contempt put make up with Disgust powdering her face, Envy, putting on lipstick and Contempt filing her nails.
Joy: Disgust, Envy, Contempt, you girls make sure Riley stands out today but also blends in.
Envy: We're on it, honey!
Disgust: When we're through, Riley will look so good, the other kids will look at their own outfits and barf.
Contempt: You said it!
Joy: Peace, (Peace is staring at the ceiling with her mouth wide open and I.Q. was walking in circles in a weird way) you make sure Riley is peaceful and optimistic, during class and can you watch Amethyst and my niece Courage? Courage and Amethyst, (Courage and Amethyst coos) you both just sit there and be cute! Who's Auntie Joy's little cuties? You are! Yes, you are! (tickles them and starts speaking in baby talk. They laughs. The others look at her. She clears her throat) Any who, Joy, (to herself) yes, Joy? You'll be in charge of the console keeping Riley happy all day long. And may I add, I love your dress, it's adorable. Oh, this old thing? Thank you so much. I love the way it twirls. (She twirls)
Laughter: (giggles)
Surprise: (walking down while snacking on a bag of chips)
Joy: Laughter, Surprise and Wacky, be sure to come up with some good jokes for lunch. It'll help start a conversation.
