A/N: This takes place after Chapter 44: Geared up
---
Doll was on a mission — not one of battle, but something far more personal. She was searching for a plushie of her sister's favorite character in fiction: Kinio, the overconfident hero from My Sword Is Bigger Than Yours, Rin's all-time favorite anime.
She'd already scoured countless abandoned malls, digging through dusty shelves and collapsed toy aisles, but her search had turned up nothing. Still, she refused to give up. Rin's birthday was only a few days away, and after all the ways she'd mistreated her sister when they were younger, Doll wasn't about to come empty-handed.
The doors of yet another deserted mall groaned as Doll entered, her optics scanning the decayed interior. Her solver flickered to life — the symbol appearing at the edge of her fingers as she used it to cycle through every plush in sight, analyzing anything that remotely resembled the plush from the photo Uzi had given her.
Nothing. Not a single Kinio plush.
"This place is useless," Doll muttered, frustration evident in her tone. Her visor dimmed as she turned toward the cracked windows facing the horizon. Beyond them lay the Corrupted Lands — unstable terrain crawling with danger.
She stared for a moment, then exhaled sharply. "Guess that's my next stop," she said to herself.
With renewed determination, Doll stepped out of the ruined mall and started walking toward the Corrupted Lands — her resolve unshaken, even as static flickered faintly across her visor. If that's where she needed to go to find Rin's gift, then so be it.
---
As Doll entered the first stop within the Corrupted Lands, she was immediately met with hostility. Several corrupted drones turned their blank, glitching visors toward her, their movements twitchy and erratic. Three lunged at once — like starving beasts about to taste flesh.
Doll didn't even flinch. She tilted her head slightly, her left eye glowing with the faint, spiraling symbol of the Solver. In an instant, three floating butcher's knives materialized around her, slashing through the air with mechanical precision. The corrupted drones fell apart mid-lunge — cleanly decapitated before they even hit the ground.
"Stay out of my way," she said coldly, her tone flat as she continued walking deeper into the ruins.
Eventually, she found the store she was looking for — or what was left of it. Shelves lay scattered, merchandise crushed and broken beneath collapsed beams. The air was thick with static and dust.
"Just great," Doll muttered, kicking a pile of debris aside. "How many more of these do I have to check?"
Then, as if fate had finally decided to reward her persistence, she saw it.
At the far end of the store, atop a teetering stack of shelves, sat a Kinio plush — clean, untouched, and somehow perfectly preserved. A ray of light from a cracked ceiling panel illuminated it like a sacred relic.
For the first time in hours, Doll smiled. "Finally," she whispered.
Climbing over the debris, she reached out and grasped the plush. "You'll be the perfect gift for my sister," she said softly, almost like she was speaking to the plush.
But as she pulled, the plush resisted.
Her optics flickered in confusion — and then she noticed a hand on the other side of it. A Disassembly Drone was holding the plush too, tugging back with equal force.
"Oi," Doll snapped, her expression turning sharp. "That plush is mine. Hands off."
The Disassembly Drone narrowed its optics, refusing to release its grip.
"What? I've been searching for a Kinio plush for months! This one's mine!"
