Without a word, he walked up behind her.

Kıvılcım twitched slightly when his arms slipped around her waist, but when she felt his familiar warmth, her body softened. She leaned back against him instinctively, exhaling a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding.

Ömer’s voice came low, husky from sleep, his chin brushing her shoulder.

Ömer: Couldn’t sleep?

She shook her head no.

Kıvılcım: You?

Ömer: The rain woke me up.

Kıvılcım turned, and made eye contact with Ömer. For a moment, neither of them spoke. The only sound was the faint hum of the kettle cooling and their steady breathing, in sync without trying.

Kıvılcım: Why were you sleeping on the couch?

Ömer lays his forehead on Kıvılcım's forehead.

Ömer: I didn't want to overstep any boundaries.

Kıvılcım pulls her head back to look at Ömer.

Kıvılcım: It's just sleeping, Ömer. If you have amnesia, we did that this morning too.

Ömer: Yes, but Mavi is here now.

Kıvılcım: You're overthinking it.

Ömer: Am I? I don't want to confuse her or make things uncomfortable for you. You know Mavi is curious. What do I say if she asks me are we together again?

Kıvılcım turns around, reaching for another cup.

Kıvılcım: Do you want tea...

But without answering Kıvılcım, Ömer turns her back to him.

Ömer: Kıvılcım?

Kıvılcım: What Ömer? You can't look for an explanation from me, when you haven't ask me to be...

She stopped talking, suddenly to shy to utter the words that is right on her tongue. Her voice trailed off, breath catching mid-sentence.

Ömer froze.

He didn’t need her to finish.
He heard the word she couldn’t say.

Partner.

Mine.

Whatever label existed between heartbreak and hope she had almost spoken it.

'I'm such an idiot' he thought.

Ömer: look at me, (she lifted her gaze to him) you're right. I will ask you. Not in a kitchen in the middle of the night while you're exhausted and sad and holding tea like it’s a shield.
I will ask you when your heart isn’t hurting and when those beautiful eyes are laughing again. Or when you are annoyed with me.... and reprimanding me.

The corners of Kıvılcım's lips faintly twitched up. Ömer leans forward trying to kiss her, but she moves her head back.

Ömer: Why are you pulling back?

Kıvılcım: Because I want too.

Ömer raises his eyebrows.

Ömer: If I remember correctly, you've been kissing me all day and now that I want to kiss you, you won't let me.

Kıvılcım: Exactly.

Kıvılcım pushes Ömer away from her. She starts walking to the living room.

Ömer starts walking after her.

Ömer: Kıvılcım hanım what game are you playing?

In one swift movement, Ömer abruptly turns Kıvılcım to him, making her tea almost spill. He pushes her against the wall, grabbing the tea out of her hand and placing it on the cabinet next to them.
