actions have consequences

"I'm so tired." Felix complained after Mr. Kang had finally announced that training was over.
"Me too. But I think I'll stay and train some more with Chan." Jeongin answered, looking around to see where Chan was. Felix gave him a knowing look, which immediately made Jeongin blush. "Shut up." He quickly said, when he noticed Chan was walking into their direction.
"At least you don't have to transform your living room into a dance studio now." Felix sighed and then curiously watched Jeongin and Chan interact.
It was so obvious that Jeongin liked him, if Chan didn't see that he must be blind. The way he got shy around him immediately, the way he was smiling brighter and the faint blush covering his cheeks from only talking to him.
"I thought we could just do something else today instead of staying longer to swim." Chan proposed and Felix grinned at his friend. This definitely sounded like a date.
Jeongin seemed to think the same, because his eyes widened for a moment, but he instantly agreed. "Okay. What do you want to do?"
"I thought we could maybe just go for a walk?" Chan asked and Jeongin nodded. He really liked talking to Chan, but it wasn't easy, when he was trying to focus on swimming. Just walking with Chan and actually talking sounded really good.
When they left the pool, Felix smiled at him once more and raised his brows, which only made Jeongin roll his eyes. Then Felix left to go home, while him and Chan walked into another direction.
Not far away from their campus was a park with a small lake and they silently agreed on going there. "Are you sure we shouldn't continue training?" Jeongin asked after a while, unsure if it was actually a good idea not to train, when they had the time to.
Chan nodded. "Another important thing is not only thinking about the competition and swimming. It's still supposed to be fun and you need some breaks too. You've been training so much more lately. Give yourself a break."
It was true. Him and Chan had met up so often to swim lately and Jeongin had spent so much time on focusing on the competition. Doing something else one evening was probably a good idea.
"Thank you so much for helping me all the time, even though I'm your competition." Jeongin said, still surprised Chan always helped him get better, even though there could only be one winner.
"Sure." Chan smiled at him. "It doesn't really matter who I compete against. It'll be one of the two best swimmers of our team and since you want to win too, why should I not help you?"
"Thank you. Really." He could only repeat himself, because it really meant so much to him.
Jeongin looked to the side, observing Chan. He was so beautiful, just looking at him made his heart flutter. In a moment of confidence, Jeongin felt brave enough to take Chan's hand into his own.
Butterflied erupted in his stomach and he was really nervous. He was almost holding his breath, waiting for his reaction. Then Chan squeezed his hand, smiling at him and not letting go. Jeongin was relieved.
When Chan then intertwined their fingers, Jeongin's heart was going crazy. He couldn't take this, his crush on Chan was growing way too fast. Was if even just a simple crush at this point? He felt like it already was more than just that.
"I want one of us to win." Chan calmly said after a moment of silence.
"Me too. I'm already sure you'll win, but who knows." Jeongin answered.
