Tahani's POV

I'm sitting in this meeting trying not to flip the fuck out.

Like—deep breath, Tahani. You've been shot at, stabbed twice, and jumped off a ten story building before. You can handle this... right?

Wrong.

Because whatever the hell this meeting is? This ain't normal assassin business.

I thought my secret was big—turns out mine's a cute little diary entry compared to the Bible of crime I just stumbled into.

Kingpins. Mafia leaders. These Global level, power moving, bullet ordering, accent having motherfuckers got me all the way fucked up.

Like, huh???

Now it's starting to make sense why people whisper when they hear Von or Ki'yomi's name. Or why they get respect without even opening their mouths. These ain't just assassins—they're basically fucking royalty.

And me? I'm sitting here with a warm bottle of water, trying not to pass out while Ki'yomi negotiates with the Russian mafia like she's ordering lunch.

I need to talk to Juneau immediately. Because if she knew about this and didn't tell me—

Oh, my god I think I lov—

Wait... did I just say I think I'm in love with a mafia boss?

Nope. I didn't say that. Delete that from the record. Erased. Never happened.

Okay, Tahani, come on focus.

I knew they had power, sure. Ki'yomi's one of the top ten assassins in the world. She's on the same list I'm on—me, Bleu, Juneau, Ki'yomi, Von. But I thought it stopped there. I thought we were all just playing in the same bloody sandbox.

Turns out they own the damn sandbox.

And the playground.

They don't even need to do this assassin work for real. It's just sport to them. They've got empires. Generational money.

Shit entire networks of killers, politicians, and cartel families who probably bow at their feet.

While I'm just trying to stay alive long enough to finish my next contract.

As I'm sitting here spiraling, my mind halfway gone, I hear Juneau call my name—calm but serious.

"Tahani, can you come to the bathroom with me, please?"

I blink, startled. "Oh... yeah."

I stand up—and immediately slam my knee on the bottom of the damn table.

"AHHH FUCK—"

"That's what I'm talking about, Vonn'asia!!" Ki'yomi said without even glancing up. "We need a new table before somebody gets hurt again."
