Chapter XIX: Slow Tick

Start from the beginning

She leans back slightly, as if reevaluating something. Then, after a pause, she adds, "Now I see why... Hm. I suppose I can make some slight adjustments to my plan. However," her eyes regain their sharpness "I will prove to the school that, in the end, I don't need an advisor."

Hah. Egotistical to the very end.

But that works for me. It means she's predictable. Manageable. And if I can control her through that arrogance, then I won't complain.

"Alright then, are we done?" I say, stretching slightly. Then, before she can respond, I wave a hand dismissively. "You know what? Fine. I'll ally with you. I'll be part of your faction."

I step toward the door and gesture for her to leave.

"Now then- please get out of my room. I think you've overstayed your welcome."

After a few moments of silence, she sighs, then, just like that, that smug smirk returns, as if it had never left.

If I were really the person I was pretending to be, I'd have already punched that smirk right off her face and smashed her head into the desk for good measure.

But luckily for the lilac-haired brat, I'm not that person.

"You're no fun, you know that, Mesekkai-kun?" she muses, tilting her head slightly. "I really do enjoy your company."

I seriously doubt that, Sakayanagi. But sure.

"But I suppose I should know when I'm not welcome." She giggles lightly before standing up from my seat and moving toward the door. "I'll see you next Monday then, or maybe even sooner."

Kamuro, ever the loyal follower, joins her without a word.

As they step out of my dorm, I resist the urge to shut the door in her face. Barely.

Instead, I settle for a dry response.

"Sure. Let's hope we meet under more positive circumstances."

Then, without waiting for a reply, I close the door.

"How annoying," I mutter to no one in particular.

Yet, despite myself, a small smile tugs at my lips.

"That went even better than I imagined. The first-year's so-called 'best genius,' huh? How easy it was to control her thoughts... Oh well, they can't all be Ayanokouji."

With that, my gaze drifts to the papers on my desk, only to notice something missing.

"...She took a few of them with her."

I let out a sigh, leaning back in my chair.

"Hmph. I hope someone kicks that damn cane one day and sends her flat on her face."

Who knows? Maybe I'll be the one to do it.

3rd POV.

Both Sakayanagi and Kamuro exchanged glances before turning back toward the closed door. The prideful leader of Class 1-A, whose ego had just taken a hit, let out a deep sigh.

"...That went very, very differently than I expected. He truly has no manners, treating two ladies like that."

Kamuro nearly laughed but held it in.

"I doubt he even sees you as a fellow human, much less a lady. If it weren't for the school, I think he'd outright hate your guts."

But Sakayanagi merely shook her head.
