"Do you understand what I'm asking of you?"
His voice was everywhere; behind my ribs, beneath my skin.
I wanted to answer, to scream, to run.
But I couldn't move.
"You will open your mind to me when the time comes," he said.
"You will let me in."
I nodded. Not because I agreed, but because I was afraid of what would happen if I didn't.
And for the first time, I understood what it meant to be chosen by him.
It wasn't an honour. It was a sentence.
