ME: Alright everyone, eyes on the screen! The next video is about to play!
(Everyone looks at the screen. A video starts to play. The scene opens with Kubo heading to the village down below. He chats with the old lady for a bit, before standing in the town center. After setting up his origami papers, he takes out his bachi and lifts his hand into the air, ready to play his shamisen. Everyone recognizes the shamisen as the one his mother had used to part the sea in the first film.)
RUMI: That shamisen... wasn't that his mother's?
JINU: I guess she passed it onto her son.
(Kubo says his famous words.)
KUBO: (Spoken) If you must blink, do it now.
(Kubo strums a string on his shamisen with the bachi. Everyone in the village turn their attention toward the young boy, and gather around, clearly eager to hear his story.)
KUBO: (Spoken) Pay careful attention to everything you see and hear, no matter how unusual it may seem. And please be warned, if you fidget, if you look away, if you forget any part of what I tell you, (pointing at a lady) then our hero will surely perish.
(To everyone's astonishment, Kubo starts playing his shamisen, and the origami samurai springs to life.)
RUMI: (Amazed) That's amazing! And he's doing it all by simply playing an instrument!
(The samurai springs into action, drawing out his katana, and lands firmly on the ground.
KUBO: (Narrating) Hanzo was a mighty samurai. But he was alone, his family taken from him, his kingdom in ruins, and his army destroyed by the dreadful Moon King. You may recall, Hanzo was roaming the distant far lands in search of a magical suit of armor.
(As Kubo speaks, six sheets of white paper float into the air, hovering in the shape of a circle.)
KUBO: (Spoken, continued) The only weapon in the whole world that could protect him from the power of the Moon King. The armor was made up of three pieces. First!
MAN: Oh! I know, I know! The Sword Unbreakable.
(Kubo plays his shamisen, and a yellow sheet of paper forms into the Sword Unbreakable.
KUBO: (To a little girl in the crowd) The second!
LITTLE GIRL: The Breastplate Impenepata-
LITTLE GIRL's FATHER: Impenetrable.
LITTLE GIRL: Impenetrabubble!
(Yang laughs, and Blake jabs her in the shoulder playfully)
YANG: What?! It's funny, and adorable.
(Kubo plays his shamisen again, and another yellow sheet of paper forms into the Breastplate Impenetrable.)
KUBO: And finally, the third weapon, the final piece of the armor.
OLD LADY: I know this one! Pick me! The Helmet Invulnerable!
(Another yellow paper forms into the Helmet Invulnerable.)
KUBO: (Narrating) Before Hanzo could claim the armor and unite the pieces to reveal their true power, he was attacked by the Moon King's beasts!)
(A dark blue paper forms into a giant spider, but the mini samurai slides under it and cuts it down.)
TANJIRO: It's fascinating how he can do all this. Even I don't have such an ability. I guess it makes sense, with all of us being from different worlds.
(The video shows Kubo, his voice inaudible, continuing his storytelling. The mini samurai gets swallowed by a giant shark, but hacks his way out. Kubo continues to narrate. Kubo then plays his samurai once more, and a piece of yellow paper forms into a giant chicken.)
OLD LADY: Ha ha! Kill the chicken! Rip it to pieces!
(The samurai runs around as the chicken starts chasing him around. He slips under the chicken. Suddenly, he's knocked down by a giant egg! The chicken had started shooting eggs from its behind! But the samurai hops over the next few eggs, and beheads the chicken.)
KUBO: (Narrating) Hanzo was filles with rage. His soul tormented by the grief of a family stolen from him!
(As Kubo plays his shamisen, three pieces of dark blue paper form into the image of the Moon King.)
KUBO: (Spoken) At last, our hero was face to face with his nemesis, the Moon King.
(However, as the two warriors prepare to engage in battle, the town's bell rings, signaling the end of Kubo's story, and the figures form back into nothing but paper.)
KUBO: (Spoken) So be sure to come back tomorrow!
MAN: (Disappointed) Oh, come on! People like an ending! (Watching Kubo leave) Wh-Where are you going?!
(And at this point, the video ends. Everyone, confused as to why Kubo ended his story so abruptly, can't help but be disappointed themselves.)
RUBY ROSE: Aw man! I so badly wanted to hear how the story ends!
RUMI: So did I. It is quite odd, him ending his story so suddenly like that. I mean, he did look rather anxious while looking at that giant bell when it rang.
JINU: I wonder why he ended it like that. And, judging from that man's reaction, this doesn't seem to be the first time he's done this.
RUMI: Yeah. But hopefully our questions are answered in the next video.
