Suddenly the pathway split into two, with a sign planted in the middle that had opposite facing arrows, pointing down each trail.
"Which path should we take?" Ragatha asked, voicing everyone's thoughts.
Pomni glanced down both trails, and shrugged, "I don't know, they both look the same," that's when she noticed a smaller sign underneath the bigger one, that was slightly hidden by the tall grass. She leaned down, parted the greenery, and began to read aloud, "Both paths must be taken, by two or more people - Caine."
Zooble sighed with annoyance, "Of course, Caine, would try and import his own rules on a nature walk."
"So who's going with who?" Gangle asked.
"I'm definitely not going with that one," Zooble gestured to Jax, whose malicious nature immediately perked back up at the potential headache he could cause the others.
"Aww, come on, Zooble! We could have a great time together, if you'd just give me a chance!"
Zooble faced off his nasty grin with an unimpressed scowl, that could only be conveyed through a piercing glare, "I'd rather juggle my chances of having a better time with my evil self then with you."
The insult obviously bounced right off of Jax and he just shrugged, "Well, someone will have to come with me, it does say "two or more," after all!" He stood on the right side of the trail, challenging any of them to step forward and basically be the sacrifice for the group.
No on stepped forward.
Ragatha gripped her dress uncomfortably.
Gangle stepped behind Zooble.
Even Kinger seemed to know better then to go with the rabbit.
That just left Pomni, who really didn't want to go with Jax either. But she saw the way his scheming eyes were focused on Gangle, his usual target for his horrible pranks.
Pomni sighed, knowing she couldn't let Jax get another chance to torture the poor ribbon girl, so she reluctantly stepped forward, "I guess I'll go with you."
Ragatha blinked in surprise, "Pomni, are you sure?"
"It's fine, really, I can handle him for a bit." Pomni reassured her, and at the same time, tried to reassure herself as she stepped bedside Jax-who was grinning ear to ear. The look in his eyes suggested he was going to make her regret her decision, not like she wasn't already.
With the two groups now decided, they both headed down their chosen path. Not before Ragatha turned back, and waved to Pomni and Jax, "Good luck you two, and be careful!"
The worry was directed mainly towards Pomni, having to be stuck with Jax for a bit. So much for a relaxing nature walk... "Thanks, you too!" Pomni waved back.
The walk started off silent, but not in a comforting silence, more of a suffocating one. Jax was usually not this quiet, at least not for long, and it began to unnerve Pomni. She just hoped that he would decide to be easy on her with any schemes he was hatching in his brain.
Or maybe he could just stay quiet for the rest of the walk, that could work too. Though she knew better then to get her hopes up.
As if on cue, Jax snapped his gaze down to the jester, so sharp it almost made her flinch, "So, how's your old, lady legs holding up, Pom-Pom?"
That was actually a way less mean comment then she was expecting, though it still caused Pomni to roll her eyes, "Better then your ego."
Jax tilted his head in a mocking manner, "Oh, trust me, my ego has never been more stable, unlike your anxiety."
