|^|Just this once|^| -The Amazing Digital Circus

Pomni was in the lead, and she blinked in surprise when she stepped out onto a rocky path way, with tall, oak trees looming over her. Bellow them were bushes full of purple berries, and tall grass with flowers poking out-like they were trying to greet her.

Pomni was shocked by how...real it all looked, like she had just stepped back into the real world.

From the surprised gasps and murmurs of the others, it was obvious they were thinking the same thing. Even Jax looked a bit taken a back by it all.

"Wow, Caine must really be upping the quality for the adventurers!" Ragatha spoke up.

Pomni nodded, a rare smile appearing on her face, "Yeah, it's beautiful!"

Kinger immediately wondered over to a little ant hill, forming on the side of the path, "Well, hello there, little army! Doing a good job building up your base, keep up the good work!"

Pomni let out a small chuckle, being used to Kinger's weird fascination of bugs, especially now knowing why he loves them so much.

Jax rolled his eyes, then proceeded to throw on his evil grin, "Yo, Kinger! Think you can find some good centipedes around here?"

Ragatha immediately whipped around, "Jax, why!?"

"Whaaaattttt? I was just asking, Kinger, a favor! Afraid of centipedes or something?" Jax asked innocently, even though
he was fully aware she was.

Pomni's smile immediately dissolved into an unimpressed frown, "Come on, Jax, can't you just lay off your pranks just for this adventure?"

"Why should I? This adventure is already going to be so boring. I'm going to need to have a little bit of fun!"

Pomni glared at him, "You don't know that. Besides, you don't need to have fun all the time, sometimes it's good for you to settle things down, and take things slow."

Jax stared at her with a far away look, like she had just muttered nonsense. The he burst out laughing, "Sheesh, you sound like an old lady! What, want me to get you a knitting kit next?"

Heat crawled up Pomni's face as she angrily replied, "Weren't you the one to call me a child?"

Jax's grin grew wider, "Yeah, you have an 80 year old soul that's trapped in a 5 year old's body!"

Pomni wanted to slap the grin off his face, but she realized that she probably wouldn't be able to reach it-and she didn't want to prove his point-so she just huffed and turned back to the trail, "Can we just start the walk already?"

Jax gestured her forward with a sly remark, "Old ladies first!" Pomni just ignored him.

The group followed the path, seeing more of the beautiful, forest scenery. Pomni was very impressed, she didn't know Caine could make an adventure fell so real. She was used to bright colors, and oddly shaped objects in places they shouldn't be. But now it was the group standing out to the natural forest.

Though the forest didn't seem to care. Welcoming in the odd bunch with their warm colors, and soft sounds of the leaves and grass being brushed by the wind.

No one was talking. They didn't need too. The forest was already doing a good job at conveying their thoughts.

  Even Jax was quiet, his eyes wondering around, like he was trying to take in the beautiful scene before it could be taken away from him. Obviously he was trying to hide it behind his signature grin, but it didn't reach as wide as it usually did,  and Pomni could still see the vulnerability. He was always better at hiding his feelings behind sharp words, then behind teeth.
