23rd of August, 1898.
A disgusting place. They don't maintain hygiene in this town anymore. Greensville is done for. It used to be so lovely back then...
Now no one looks at you in the eye. They just look at the ground or to the side. The store's are all closed or devoid of customers, and worst of all, there's been reports of tribals scouting the town.
I need to find out what the hell is going on. Maybe I should ask Sheriff Buck to see if he knows anything.
As he closed the book cover, Isaac got up from the dining table and grabbed the diary, slowly inserting it in the bookshelf next to the door.
He walked towards the bathroom, opened the door and looked at himself in the mirror. Bags under his eyes, bruised up face from a fight 2 nights ago... he wasn't looking well.
Isaac: "Can't believe I look like this..."
He tried to fix himself up, pouring water on his face and trying to cover it all with some bandages, but he ended up looking like he came from war.
He took off the bandages and stored them in the mirror cabinet, then walked out of the bathroom, slowly closing the door.
He rested his head against the wall, then looked outside. There were a few kids playing with a chicken. Innocent, he thought.
He slowly walked towards the exit, twisting the doorknob, then opening it slowly.
The rays of sunlight hit his face like a freshly-baked slap by the Gods.
He quickly started walking, the mud already staining his boots. As he looked around while walking to the sheriff's office, he saw a few adults looking over the children, and other men going to the saloon.
As he arrived at the sheriff's office, he entered without hesitation and was soon greeted by the deputy.
Deputy Harris: "Well, what brings you here, citizen?" He said, whilst drinking a cup of coffee.
Isaac: "Um... I was looking forward to speak with the Sheriff."
Deputy Harris: "Buck isn't here right now. Buuut you could wait for him, considering he just went to get some more coffee."
Isaac looked around, a little nervous.
Isaac: "O-okay... sure."
Both Isaac and Harris were a little uncomfortable, but they understood eachother in the moment.
Suddenly, Sheriff Buck opens the door and greets Isaac first.
Sheriff Buck: "Well, if it isn't the man himself? Good to see you, Isaac. How's your... face?"
Isaac showed an annoyed expression on his face.
Isaac: "Pretty fine to say the least. Can't wait to get these bruises off my face."
Buck chuckles, then sets the things he bought for Harris in the table. Harris immediately grabs the tobacco and starts making a cigarette.
Buck: "Anyways, what brings you here? You seem to be here because of something big, right?"
Isaac: "Well... yeah. What the hell is going on with those tribals scouting the place? Creeps me the hell out."
Buck's smile suddenly disappears, turning serious and a little cold.
Buck: "Good question. Uh... we don't exactly know what is going on with them, but we can deduce they aren't scouting the place because they want drinks or whatever. We've seen 'em with stolen binoculars and firearms. This doesn't look well, and I'm thinking about evacuating the town." He said whilst scratching his beard.
