"So is it a boy or a girl?" Envy asked.

"Envy, I'm only on week seven," Joy said, and as if on cue, she yawned a little, as if tired from all the talking.

"You good?" Sadness asked.

"Yeah, just... exhausted," Joy shrugged. "It's been like this for a bit."

"I still think it's funny that your symptoms showed up full force only after you found out," Fear said, but still reached out to pull her in close, and she was already asleep by the time she was leaning against him.

"I've never seen her this tired before," Envy commented.

"Usually the first trimester involves a lot of low energy levels," Sadness explained. "I think it's now especially too, partially because this week is when a lot of the brain cells develop."

The other emotions stared at her.

"And... you just know this, because..." Disgust said.

"She came with us and asked a lot of questions," Fear explained. "That's why she knew before you guys did."

He adjusted Joy so that she was in a more comfortable position. "Knowing this one she'll probably wake up ready to eat a snack or something."

They all waited a moment before realizing the story clearly wasn't over.

"Can you at least tell us what happened next?" Anxiety asked.

"Yeah, I can do that," Fear said. "Basically... if you thought the tension between Daisy, Tom, and Gatsby was getting thick, the drama was just getting started."

"You guys too?"

Joy and Fear turned to see Nick approaching.

"Uh... what do you mean?" Joy asked, hastily wiping away tears so it didn't look like the two of them had just been celebrating the fact that she was expecting, because it wasn't like everyone else thought the two of them had known this entire time or anything.

"I saw Daisy and Gatsby come in here as well," Nick explained. "Tom's been looking for her."

Joy and Fear exchanged a look. They didn't remember Daisy and Gatsby following.

Then again, in their defense, Fear had been worried about Joy and Joy had been busy trying to get the nerve to spill the beans so...

"I think they went this way," Nick guessed, and the three of them set off to find the duo.

"Why can't we just have fun like that?" Daisy's voice spoke into the night.

"Yup, that's them," Joy said, taking the initiative and stepping into view.

Gatsby and Daisy immediately turned, but Joy swore she saw Gatsby's muscles slightly tense at whatever they'd talked about.

"Joy," Daisy grinned, heading over to her. "We were just having a row."

"A row?" Joy furrowed her brow a little.

"An argument," Daisy giggled. "About the future... about the future of the colored empires."

Joy dismissed her attempt at being funny, still focusing on Gatsby's unnerved behavior.

"Well, Tom's been looking for you," Nick explained, but they noticed Gatsby's butler returning.

"Mr. Gatsby," he kept the same tone he'd had all this time. "Mr. Slagle. He's quite emotional."

Gatsby hesitated only a moment before he began walking. "Excuse me."
