LUCILLE STEVENSON POV

You woke up with a heavy heart, thinking about your best friend, and only him.

The events of yesterday were playing on a loop inside of your brain, and you couldn't stop the memories. They were such good memories that you didn't mind having, but you just wished they weren't with Fred.

Fred and you had been best friends for as long as you could remember, he had been a huge part of your life for ages. You weren't willing to give up that friendship on a whim, because you shared a passionate kiss when he was helping you practice.

No matter how confused you felt about your shared kiss with Fred Weasley, you knew that you couldn't act on your feelings, since nothing good could come from them.

So, to distract your mind, you woke up and headed straight to the library. Just as you had expected, you saw quite a few familiar faces in there; one that you were looking for in particular.

"Hi, Neville!" You sang as you greeted the brown haired boy.

"Oh, hi, Lucille." Neville smiled at you as he looked up from his game of wizards chess.

"Do you need a partner?" You asked. "You know, just like the old times."

You and Neville always used to play wizards chess together, and you always did so on a Saturday. Since you never want to parties, but all your friends did, you often found yourself in the library.

You had a lot of friends at Hogwarts, but not all of them were in your year; Neville Longbottom being one of them. Him and you got along very well over the years, bonding over wizard's chess and herbology.

Not a lot of people were nice to Neville, and nobody ever really took the time to get to know him and his interests. When you saw him in the library playing wizards chess by himself a few years back, the two of you made it a regular thing to play the game with each other every Saturday, or just on the Saturdays that you were both free.

You loved it. It gave you the chance to wind down after a busy week of lessons, and you also loved catching up with Neville.

"If you want to..." Neville said quietly to you. "You don't have to, Lucille, only if-"

"I'd love to, Neville." You told him. "So, how was your summer?"

You pulled out the chair opposite him, and sat down. He refreshed the chess board and the two of you began to play. You spent most of the day with Neville in the library, the two of you catching up after the summer and playing a few games of wizards chess, you even helped him with some of his tricky homework.

After a while, he went his own way to the greenhouse, while you hung around in the library a little while longer.

You stayed in there because it was nice and quiet, a good place for you to think without your thoughts being interrupted. That was what you needed right now, because you had so many thoughts that definitely did not need to be interrupted.

That was until your trail of thought shifted over to the passionate kiss with your best friend, and you were silently praying to be dragged out of your thoughts.

Much to your surprise, your silent prayers actually worked.

"Hey, Lucille." Hermione Granger said as she wondered over to you. "What are you doing in here? Shouldn't you be getting ready for the Hufflepuff party?"
