In a matter of seconds, the girl's throat closed in. Her screams echoing throughout the small room that kept bursting into flames by the second.
The louder she screamed-- the harder it was for her to keep sane. It's like she was all alone, no one was there to save or help her. No one was there to call out for Lavinia, search her whereabouts or hold her tight.

With each movement of her mouth came an aching pain, she'd barely been able to make out the events before her. No child could explain the scene of almost being burned alive. Her hands constantly rubbed the now sore areas around her throat, hoping to soothe them but the pain was inevitable.

Just a few minutes ago she was playing with a paper plane made by her older brother Jasper. He often tried to accompany her during the lonely days by herself where their parents were busy and the maids were making supper but not this time. He had to send her off with a crafted airplane when her father pulled him along into the estate meeting room. It was time, the time where he was no longer just a teenager who'd spend his days goofing around-- he was grown up and was ready to become what they'd call an adult.

She hates adults, she thinks they're all ignorant scums who have no regard for anyone but themselves. They're even harsher when they see those younger than them, they use it as the biggest excuse to trample all over them.

"Do this!"

"Don't talk back."

"Don't speak your mind."

"who do you think you are?"

"what you want does not matter!"

Everyone couldn't wait to grow up to be just like them and do what they want and even say whatever they want. Meanwhile she got on her knees every night to pray, she begged God to make her stay a little girl. No matter how much she was trampled on, she never wanted to become like them. The nasty, cruel adults who made her life a living hell. She didn't want to make her own future children or any child who'd cross her path cry.

On her fifth birthday, her mother would ask her if she was ready to grow up since she's "growing up so fast." She had no choice but to say yes.

But she wasn't, she would never be ready. She wanted to stay young and play tag with her older brother no matter how many years would go by.  Then again, even he had to grow up and be an adult-- a stupid, stupid adult.

Now stuck in a room with an airplane-- a burnt one at that. What was she supposed to do with a simple air plane? There was rarely anything to do for a child her age, so of course like any child— she would get into something she wasn't exactly supposed to do while trying to find something to do. Well—she didn't exactly get into anything, she just being a child.

As her brother closed the door, locking it shut behind him. She began storming around the small room with no destination in mind. Her main focus was on the enjoyment of a paper airplane Jasper took the time to craft carefully. "Swoosh!!" She ran around the room that had little space for her to run in, she managed. Swoosh sounds with every turn, announcing the bumpy paths ahead like a pilot, and even dropping fake passengers off.

As the footsteps grew faster and slightly louder— a yelp could be heard as she crashed into the side table and knocked over the candle sitting on there.
It was the big candle her father told her to stay away from, the one he lit and walked from for one second. He was supposed to blow it out, but with the urgency of the meeting— there was absolutely no time to think about that. In most case scenarios, the small fire would be taken out as the wax spills over it.

But that wasn't the case.

Two steps back and the fire began. All she could do was muster up the courage to slowly back away. She wasn't fast enough to run but had enough consciousness to shield herself from the table cloth firing up. That wasn't much of a help either because with every counting step, the fire grew as well as the smoke that made its way closer.
