Naruto chimes in, “Yeah, like the day I met Satoshi. A bunch of jerks were throwing rocks at me and he used his body as a shield to protect me then helped me get cleaned up. He never met me before but he went out of his way to protect me.”

“I see. So what does it feel like to be in love?” Sasuke continues, as we reach the bank of the lake then I remove my shirt and toss it aside.

My boyfriend explains as he steps into the cool water, “It's hard to say. Like when you're with that person all of the problems and bad stuff just seem so small and you know that no matter what happens you'll have that person by your side forever. And you know you'd do anything for that person to see them happy.”

“So does that mean I'm in love with both of you?” He asks as he takes a few steps into the water and gives us a look of uncertainty and insecurity.

To the best of my ability, I explain, “There's not just one kind of love. You can love someone and not be in love with them. But I think to be in love with someone you have to be attracted to that person in a deeper, more special way.”

“Like in a sexual way?” Sasuke adds as he floats on his back and gazes at the clouds overhead.

“Yeah, kinda.” Naruto answers as our eyes meet and for a moment as we blush. “But it doesn't always have to be stuff like that. Sometimes, just talking and holding each other is my favorite thing to do with Satoshi.”

“You both may be total idiots sometimes…” He says with a much friendlier tone than we're used to hearing. “But you're my favorite idiots and I think I love you both.”

“You're our favorite idiot too.” Naruto and I reply in unison before playfully splashing Sasuke.

Before long, the sun is starting to set. Knowing I don't have much time before the store closes, I suggest we get going. The others agree and Naruto leads Sasuke to our house as I depart for the store.

After everything is bought, I rush home. Naruto and Sasuke are getting to know each other better and finally moving past the incident that happened during shuriken jutsu practice. Knowing I've finally managed to make not just one but two friends brings a smile to my face.

“Took you long enough. Naruto was getting so hungry that I thought he was about to eat the table.” Sasuke says as he grins at me.

Naruto replies jokingly yet defiantly, “Weren't you the one who was saying that he could eat anything just a few seconds ago?”

“Alright, alright…” I say as I set the groceries down and start cooking then add, “Go get cleaned up and it should be done by the time you get back.”

Sasuke departs to take the first shower. While he's gone, Naruto and I talk about what he said earlier.

“Do you think he was joking? I mean… I've seen how he looks at both of us.” Naruto says softly.

I reply, “I've noticed it too but I don't know. Maybe he's just a little confused by seeing our relationship and he thinks that's how all people show any kind of love.”

He replies half jokingly, “Let's just be thankful he didn't see what we did last night and this morning. That would confuse the hell out of him.”

After several minutes, Sasuke emerges then sits at the table. His jet black hair clings to his face as it gradually dries. He gives me a look that almost says he's still uncertain about what he asked earlier. Despite the look on his face, his eyes show a sense of longing for the understanding and comfort I've found in Naruto.

“What are you making?” He asks as I pour a large bag of dried noodles into the pot on the stove.

As I begin chopping some green onions, I answer, “Some ramen. It's one of the only things I know how to make.”
