Arlo was curled up in the armchair Wednesday had on her side of the room, a book placed on her knees and her headphones blasting music while she waited for the raven haired girl to get back from what she was doing with Thing.
She would have loved to accompany the duo in finding the book Wednesday had mentioned, but the school library was right next to Miss Thornhill's office and the women seriously had it out for her, so she decided it was best to sit this one out.
Besides, she was exhausted from how frequent the dreams were becoming, and she just wanted a few moments of quiet.
She looked up from her book with a small smile when the door opened and Wednesday walked in, the smaller girl looked towards the area Arlo was normally sat in before a confused expression formed when she didn't see the blonde, causing Arlo laugh softly.
"I'm over here Wens." Arlo called out, pulling her legs further into her chest to rest her cheek on her knees.
"You know where Xavier's room is, right?" Wednesday questioned, placing her bag down on her bed so Thing could crawl out, instantly scurrying over to sit with Arlo.
"Hi Wednesday, I've had a wonderful day thank you for asking." The blonde mumbled sarcastically from her spot.
Wednesday watched her from over her shoulder with raised eyebrows before sighing and turning to face her fully. "Hello Arlo, I hope your day was dreadful."
"Hi Wens." She beamed down at Thing when he tapped her chin in greeting. "But yes, I do. Why?
"I need to get in and find out what Rowan was hiding." Wednesday explained, moving to sit down at her desk.
"I take it you guys couldn't find the book." She declared, receiving a nod of confirmation from Wednesday. "I can get you in his room, but you'll have to wait until his run."
"Good." The raven haired girl stated before turning to her typewriter and beginning to type.
"Would like to clarify that I am not comfortable doing this, and I'm only helping cause Rowan freaks me out." Arlo mumbled, her eyes shut as she curled impossibly further into the seat.
The knight girl didn't hear her roommates response, the feeling of sleep quickly overtaking her as the sound of the typewriter soothed her brain. Wednesday stopped typing at the unusual silence coming from the blonde, shifting to the side to look at her properly.
She stood up to grab one of her throws from her bed, gently placing it over the sleeping girl before going back to her typewriter. She could almost feel Thing staring into the side of her head and whipped round to send him a glare, making the disembodied hand cower under the blanket.
Arlo shot up an hour later, the blanket that was once covering her now falling to the floor as she gasped for breath. Her hand flew up to clutch her chest as she hunched over, flinching occasionally from flashes of the dream that still played over in her head.
She curled into herself when someone kneeled in front of her, eyes blown wide as they frantically looked around the room until they fell on Wednesday, the raven haired girl looked back at her in confusion but there was a small glint of concern in her eyes.
"Arlo." She mumbled, her hand resting lightly on the blonde's knee for balance.
Arlo looked down at her hand, the feeling of it on her knee helping her stay grounded to reality as she tried to calm her heart rate. "I'm fine."
"What happened?" Wednesday asked, her voice came out quiet, almost soft with concern.
"Nothing. It was nothing Wens." She dismissed, looking anywhere but the girl in front of her. She didn't want anyone to know about the dreams or nightmares or whatever she was calling them at this point, but she definitely didn't want her finding out like this. Seeing her like this.
