Summer

How It All Began

Note: Names are not the real names, and this is from my point of view

I (15) am in my sophomore year of high school. It is May of 2023. I am in a new relationship and in a newish friend group. I knew some of the people in the group already, my friends, Lila (16) and Carson (16). They are dating right now. My ex, Scott (16), is in this group but right now we're on good terms. Today, we're doing another pool party at Lila's house. 

*At Lila's house*

Matthew (17) had driven me over. He and I have gotten a bit closer over these past couple of weeks especially since we're neighbors. We walk in and turns out we are the first two there. We chill in the backyard with Lila and just sit there gossiping. Devin (17) shows up with Carson and we start to swim for a bit. Lila, Devin, and are playing mermaids while the boys mess around. An hour later, Trey (16) and Scott show up and join us in swimming. 

Lila's mom (who me and Trey find lowkey attractive) comes out and offers to get us all pizzas. We of course agree to it. We go in and eat for a little while. Scott and I start teaching Trey how to speak Spanish to flirt with Lila's mom. I never want this night to end. We play some truth or dare afterwards while roasting s'mores. During truth or dare, Matthew told me my boyfriend was lucky to have me. He then told me I was beautiful. It was fucking weird man but I brushed it off. 

Then, Lila, Trey, and I decide to lay on the trampoline and stargaze. Well, I am stargazing, they decided to gaze at the stars in their eyes. I look over at them and they are looking at each other like they are silently confessing to each other. I got a pit in my stomach. I mean what the fuck!? Lila is with Carson and Trey is one of Carson's best friends. Oh how the night changed for me really fast...
