The thing is, it only happens to the level it's been with Tae, when it comes to people he's really comfortable around. He finds it hard to stop his rambling when he feels safe around someone. Tae is usually reserved and quiet, something Captain always found fascinating.
He exudes a certain sense of peace and that always made him interested in the boy. The longer he spent away from him, the more he realized that he needs to slow down sometimes.
Of course, he's still upset, Tae said some harsh words and Captain still doesn't know if he truly meant it or not.
Regardless, one thing is for sure, living without him has felt... empty. In a way you can physically feel it when something in your life is missing.
He's known Tae for many years now, and he always danced around the idea of something more- something bigger brewing inside his heart. But like Tae, he did his best to push it aside in fear of losing the friendship they had.
His heart would beat abnormally fast whenever Tae would invade his personal space- a simple hug or brush of their hands would send him into a panic he didn't fully understand. And maybe he didn't want to for a long time, because if he did, the consequences of such a revelation might prove to be more dire than he ever anticipated.
When his friend would grace him with his brightest, happiest smile, Captain would feel his chest tighten, butterflies dancing around his belly and a growing need to pull him close and lay kisses on his soft, star touched cheeks.
He would blush at such weird, invasive thoughts and then recompose himself before he did something he'd regret for the rest of his life.
So when that day Tae blew up at him, screaming at him to stop talking, something broke inside of Captain. He could hear his heart cracking and it was unbearable.
The words swirled around in his mind like a newfound disease he couldn't cure. It's not like Tae hadn't teased him about his big mouth before, he knew he could be too much sometimes, but he thought his friend was just messing around with him.
Tae had never looked so angry and annoyed at him before that moment, it was like all his walls cracked and the truth was finally laid bare right in front of them. He needed to put some physical distance between them- it got too much too fast.
The realization that Tae might find him too annoying or worse- might just be tolerating him because he's too nice to flat out tell him to get lost, hurt like hell.
He left their apartment that same night, not only for himself, but also for Tae to have some space so he can work in peace.
Now that he's back, tiptoeing his way into the pitch black apartment he'd endlessly longed for every night since he walked away, his heart felt restless, not allowing him a single ounce of peace.
The fear that Tae might kick him out or scream like that again came rushing back the second he stepped foot inside, and for a moment, he actually considered turning around and leaving again.
Yet his subconscious pushed him forward, he'd have to face him at some point anyway.
Maybe not tonight, but one day he'll have to stop running away. From Tae, from his own shortcomings, and from his ever growing feelings.
The place seemed quiet, maybe too quiet. Usually when he walked in, he'd hear Tae tip tapping away on his keyboard and muttering curses under his breath when he got too stressed or upset.
He was usually very polite but when it came to his work, the curses came out involuntarily and Captain would giggle to himself at how cute he looked with his serious face, sporting an adorable pout when he concentrated.
