Raelle never suffered with being homesick but after the trip to New York, encountering the Daleks again, she could do with some nice reprieve. And so could Martha. Martha wasn't quite expecting how much time had seemed to pass, when in reality, the Doctor landed the TARDIS, only a few hours after when they had met Martha.
Putting the hand break on, the Doctor lets out a breath. "The end of the line. No place like it." He nodded his head to the TARDIS doors.
Raelle watches Martha head to the doors, slightly hesitant to first open them, as if she had a bad feeling, but she soon ripped them open, opening them to reveal her familiar home, landed inside her living room. "Home. You took me home?"
Raelle walks down the walkway, looking around Martha's living room. It was such a Martha house, filled with small trinkets and vibrant colours, matching much of her personality. Teal walls, red curtains, a sofa and TV.
"In fact, the morning after we left, so you've only been gone about twelve hours. No time at all, really." The Doctor says, admiring the photos on the mantle, one of Martha and her siblings.
"But all the stuff we've done. Shakespeare, New New York, old New York?"
Raelle leans against the TARDIS doors. "Yep, all in one night, relatively speaking. Everything should be just as it was. Books, CDs, laundry. So, back were you were, as promised."
"This is it?" Martha asked quietly, looking between the Doctor and Raelle.
"Yeah." The Doctor nods, as Martha looks away. Raelle cuts him a look. She knew the Doctor only said a few trips originally, but over the trips, she had found herself growing close to the girl, even calling her a close friend. She didn't want her to go. The Doctor notices Raelle's look. He scratches the back of his neck, his voice awkward. "I should probably er-"
Luckily, he's interrupted by the sound of Martha's phone ringing, the answer machine placed on her table kicking in, as floods of messages roll in.
"Martha, are you there? Pick it up, will you? All right then, pretend that you're out if you like. I was only calling to say that your sister's on TV. On the news of all things. Just thought you might be interested."
Martha frowns, reaching for her TV remote, to turn on the TV. The screen bursts to light, showing an old man, dressed impecably. Lazarus. He stood at a podium, with a young woman stood behind him, Martha's sister, Tish. Raelle tilts her head, looking at the image as she moves to sit on Martha's sofa.
"The details are top secret" He announces, proudly.
"How could your sister end up on the news?" Raelle asks Martha, confused.
"Tonight, I will demonstrate a device which will redefine our world."
"She's got a new job." Martha tells Raelle, moving to sit beside the girl. "PR for some research lab."
"With the push of a single button, I will change what it means to be human." The idea is ludicrous to Raelle, as she glances over to the Doctor, his interest pique. Of course. Martha puts the TV back on standby.
She looks back over to the Doctor. "Sorry. You were saying we should?.."
Flicking back into reality, pushing aside the possibilities of Lazarus, he clears his throat. "Yes, yes, we should. One trip is what we said."
Martha nods slightly, hiding her disappointment. "Yeah. I suppose things just kind of escalated."
"Mmm. Seems to happen to me a lot."
"Thank you." She says, squeezing Raelle's hand, as they both stand. "For everything."
Raelle gives Martha a warm smile. "It was our pleasure." The Doctor smiles at Martha, squeezing her shoulder before walking back into the TARDIS, Raelle following and closing the door.
