"Can I trust you?"

"That's....very random," I said, "but I don't know, can I trust you?"

Astro gave me a 'this bitch' look on his face, and scoffed, "yes, you can. I was going to show you something important, but I guess you really don't care."

"W-Wait! HEY! You can't-.... fine. I trust you, alright?"

Astro smirked. His smug face was adorable and infuriating at the same time. Like, I wanted to wipe it off his dumb face, but at the same time it was endearing.

"Follow me," he said. I watched his smile fade almost instantly, and I knew this shit was getting serious.

The last place I expected him to lead me was a creepy ass basement.

I knew Gardenview had some sussy rooms, but this room was one I've never even stepped foot in ever. Probably because there was a secret elevator to go down. When Astro flipped the switch, I could feel the floor beneath us lower, but the elevator felt very janky, and I scoffed.

"Are you ever going to fix the elevator to your janky basement? Or are you too busy making out with Dandy down here?"

Astro looked at me with a deadpan face, "I'm not making out with anyone, Vee....especially not Dandy. We're just friends."

"Mhm, well you've been latched on to him like some puppy, and you could've fooled everyone here you're dating."

He didn't respond to that, and actually, he seemed kind of hurt. I didn't know about how he actually felt about Dandy. I knew they've been friends even before Sprout, Shelly, and I were created, but I didn't know he meant this much to Astro until the shutdown. Dandy pushed away everyone but him, and the thought of losing Astro to a psychopathic flower was too much to handle.

We finally landed into the basement, and Astro used a key to open the big metal door in front of us. It said "staff only" but I couldn't believe if it was since Astro had keys to the room. When he opened the door, it was hard to see what was even inside. I just saw a lot of...ichor.

"This is where I've been," Astro started, "I can explain some things to you, as long as you don't tell a soul, got it?"

"Uhhh...ok, I doubt anyone would be interested in your creepy basement anyway."

Astro didn't react to my sarcasm, and he grabbed out a capsule. The capsule was full of the black substance that makes up a toon, ichor. He started to open the lid and look down into the black liquid, his eye looking down at it with a look of fear.

"It's...complicated. I'm helping Dandy with some operation, but I don't exactly know where this is going to take us. He's been hiding it from me too, but he said that he needs assistance from the only toon he could trust. Since he's been avoiding us, I figured this would be the only way to really get to talk and extract information from him."

"Well, then what's going on with him?" I asked, crossing my arms.

"I don't know," Astro said, "but all I know is that whatever is happening, the ichor is a big part of it."

"So, what you're saying is, you're helping this idiot without even knowing the full context of the situation? What if you're taking the wrong side."

Astro pursed his lips and looked away from my screen.

"You know, I think of that scenario a lot. I don't know what I'd do.... or how I could possibly forgive myself. That's why I've been keeping my distance. You guys won't trust me working with him anyway."

"No, we don't," I said, "but we still miss you. Both of you. Whatever nonsense is going on needs to stop."

Astro looked at his own reflection in the capsule as if he was analyzing is thoughts, but then he turned around and went to put it back on the counter. He sighed and didn't meet my eyes for a while until he finally came back to my side and motioned for me to come back on the elevator. It was clear he didn't want me to see any other secrets. I was getting a bit suspicious, but I expected as much if it was Dandy's creepy basement.

We were silent on the way up, but that wasn't good enough for me. This conversation got us nowhere, and I just wanted things to go back to normal between us.

"You know, you've always been my favorite," I started to say to Astro. His face went a shade of blue, and he turned to look at me.

"Really?"

"Why else do you think I'm overprotective of you? I care about you, Astro. You understand my issues, and I try to understand yours. Right now, I can't see why you'd side with some asshole, but I've got your back no matter what. I can only be of help though if you actually come and talk to me and the other toons, ok?"

Astro's cheeks were blue as he looked at my screen, the blue always matched his cute outfits, and I loved that about him. He looked away from my eyes and nodded.

"Mhm.....thanks Vee."

We were silent on the entire way up, but when Astro interlocked his hand with one of mine, I swore the breath caught in my throat. He was holding my hand....my hand! I felt like the luckiest toon alive as the adrenaline kicked in, and my heart started to beat. For a robot, we don't usually feel things that much, but I wasn't an idiot to understand that I really enjoyed feeling his hand in mine. Those cold and soft hands....

The more I thought about it the more glitchy my screen got, and my screen kept buffering with every breath I took. Astro noticed and smirked.

"Hmmm, 'Error Code: 500', how interesting."

How could someone so shy be so smooth?! I realized my screen had an error code on it from all of my blushing and I grumbled and ripped my hand from his fast.

"SHUT."

He only laughed in response, but I already missed the feeling of his hand in mine. I missed that feeling for so long, and now it felt like he's been slipping through my fingers. My microphone tail wagged behind me since I was in such a rush from the moment between us, but then I looked back at Astro and he was still smiling softly at me.

"You're my favorite too," he said back.

"Pfft, please," I scoffed, "Dandy's your favorite, why else would you be all over him?"

Astro pursed his lips and looked away, "Look, Vee, I know you don't like Dandy, but it's complicated. He's my childhood friend and I can't just....I can't just loose him. I don't want to lose you and the other mains, but I feel like I'm stuck in the middle here. I need your help, which is why I talked to you. I trust you the most."

I felt rather flattered Astro could trust a literal television, and I rolled my eyes, "pfft, even over Shelly and Sprout?"

"Well, I'd hate to drag Shelly into this," Astro started, "she's going through her own stuff right now...and Sprout doesn't really trust me anymore. I wouldn't have gone to him first anyway. I love Sprout and all.... but after a while it gets annoying to have someone worry about you that much."

I felt bad to admit it, but Astro was right about Sprout. I didn't want to think about it though, since I knew he really didn't mean any harm, but sometimes he could be a bit...much. We finally made it up the elevator hill and I sighed. It was time for us to part ways, and we both knew it.

"Look, I don't care what you or Dandy are doing, but we all miss you. If you change your mind about anything....you know where to find me."

"Thanks, Vee," Astro said. He held eye contact with me longer then I expected, and my heart thumped through my chest, but then just like that, he left me alone again with my own thoughts.

He's always slipping through our fingers. Just the thought of losing the Astro I once knew made my heart ache.

I finally got this one done, but it's probably ass because I was half asleep writing this LOL (the Rob Zombie I was listening too didn't help ;-;)
