Kairo stood in the aftermath, his chest heaving, sweat and shadow clinging to his skin.

The place was not real—just an echo, a space between realities where thoughts and fears took shape. But the Void Stalker had been real. And now... it was gone.

Or rather—consumed.

His Mark still pulsed, but it wasn't the same weak whisper it used to be. Now it thrummed like a living thing. Like it had opened an eye.

He blinked back into his apartment, landing silently on the balcony. Night had fallen. Arcadia glowed beneath him, unaware of what just happened in the folds between.

Inside, Mina slept soundly, curled in a nest of training mats and plushies, her fingers still glowing faintly with spark-threads.

Kairo stepped in, his clothes torn, but his expression calm.

"They'll keep coming," he thought.

He walked past the glowing rune-chalkboard and tapped it lightly, drawing a new glyph beneath Mina's name: Void-touched.

The Next Morning – Aegis Guild HQ

The Sector 9 Rift Fluctuation had fully formed.

Red lights flashed across the guild map, signals bouncing between teams. Marked Hunters were being summoned. Few accepted. Most feared the unknown threat hidden inside the corrupted dungeon fragment.

But one team didn't flinch.

Rena. Lumi. Volt. Bran. Kairo.

They stood side by side as the mission was officially accepted.

"Maybe it does," Kairo said, voice flat. "But we're gonna finish it first."

Inside the Rift Fragment – Sector 9

The corruption was thick. Black roots crawled up the dungeon walls like veins. Space warped in ways that made no sense—hallways folding into themselves, gravity flickering sideways.

But the team moved like a storm.

Rena danced through enemies with deadly precision. Lumi's spells scorched and froze anything in their path. Volt zipped like a thunderclap through corrupted beasts. Bran waded in like a titan.

And Kairo?

Kairo blinked between realms, unleashed Void Chains on entities that couldn't be touched, altered gravity fields to crush monsters into the floor, and used Voidstep to move like a ghost.

They were no longer D-rank.

They were something else.

Final Scene – Rift Core Chamber

A massive heart-like structure pulsed at the center of the room. It beat irregularly, leaking void energy and fragments of fractured memory.

Kairo approached it last, hand outstretched.

His Mark flared.

The core spoke.

"You are not the first, Kairo Verris..."
"You are not the only one born of shadow."

Kairo froze. " fuck off "

"You are not even the original."

Then the core cracked.

Darkness exploded outward.

And a new figure stepped out.

Clad in black and silver armor. A face identical to Kairo's, but older. Sharper. Eyes glowing with Riftlight.
