This chapter is to viola_zombie. They are the reason I even started this story. So hats off to you lovely!

"Isabelle are you coming or not?" My roommate, Jennifer, asked me for the tenth time. Jennifer and I had become quick friends. We were both scared we'd end up with some creepy mouth breather. We were very grateful to have each other.

My alarm went off letting me know that my next class was soon. I gathered my required books, and notebooks then headed off to the north campus. I made small talk with the few people I sit by. We talked about the weather, and dorm parties. Parties that I don't have any interest in. I never saw the appeal of getting drunk with some lame frat guys. They all peaked by 17 and they painfully knew it. That's why they all tried to do the dumbest trick at the party so no one would notice it either. My English professor came in and the small talk ended.

I ran to the nearest book store. The sky decided it hated me today. It had started down pouring as I ended class. My next assignment was to write a report on a selected book from a list the professor gave us. The book store was ungodly cold. I tugged my jacket off and hoped I'd warm up once the wet thing was off of me. I knew where the book was I wanted. Slaughterhouse Five. Walking to the back I noticed a guy from the corner of my eye asking a worker where the same book was. Ah British men. I grabbed the book and handed it to him. "I couldn't help but to over hear." I said smiling. He glanced down and looked up surprised. "Thank you." He said softly and moved to the counter. Feeling slightly rejected I made my way to the lounge area and pulled out my laptop. If I could help it I wouldn't spend my money on the book.

I kept rewriting my last paragraph trying to get it just right. I had to keep my grades up for my scholarship. My friends never knew the struggle of keeping their grades up as high as mine. They all had rich families, which was expected since I went to Columbia University. My main goal was to finish school as soon as possible and pay off my school loans. I couldn't help but notice the guy from earlier was sitting behind me. Maybe that's why I couldn't finish my report. "I'm sorry but your last page kinda sucks." the guy said as I saved my draft. "Excuse me?" I said, my blood pressure rising. "You completely rejected your thesis in it. I would suggest you rewrite the last page." he said matter of factually.  "And who the hell are you?" I asked raising an eyebrow, my jaw set. "Oh...I'm Jacky. Jacky Vincent." he said now nervous. Who the hell is this guy? Correcting MY work! He doesn't even know me! He seemed almost like he didn't realize he spoke out loud. "And you are?" he prompted after a few awkward pauses. "Isabelle." I said simply.  He nodded then said "Here's my email. Send me your paper and I'll edit it for you." He slipped me a piece of paper and then slipped out the back door. He slips everywhere. Hopefully he slips on a puddle.

"Are you going to do it?" My roommate asked me as I stared at my computer screen. "Would you?" I countered. "If he's what you said he was then yes! I would have convinced him to let me come over to his place. Nerd boys are the best." she said flipping her hair over her shoulder. She always had some smart guy around her waist, doing all the work for her. She will marry another socialite and have little socialite babies. Just like her mother and her mother's mother, an endless cycle. "But he's such a jackass! He just says my work sucks, to email him and then leaves! Who does that to a stranger! Matter of fact no one has ever done that to me...ever! Not even my teachers!" I said, my voice rising. Jennifer just shook her head and smiled. Anyone who knew me, knew not to argue with me. "Just do it." she ordered as she slipped out the door to her date. Everyone just keeps slipping. I took a deep breath and hit the send email option. I hope I don't regret this later...

After a few hours of just waiting in my room I decided to take a walk around. Unfortunately it was a Friday night, meaning everyone was outside. Maybe I should have just stayed in my dorm. "Isabelle! You're finally out! We promise not to tell the jail." A classmate of mine said laughing. She draped herself on a football player. Ew.  "I guess you didn't send the email." Isabelle said, shaking her head. "No no I sent it. Staying in that room felt like I was suffocating." I said softly. She looked as if she knew what I meant. She may have been dense but she had her heartbroken often enough to know this feeling. "Go back to the room. I'm sure he's answered by now." She, again, ordered me. Apparently everyone keeps slipping, and ordering me around. Such a weird day. I slowly made my way back to the dorm room.

I decided to wait until morning to check my emails. He didn't already have the power to keep me settled. "Did you get the answers for last night's homework?" my friend Jaz asked. We were in the second, and last, class of the day. "Hmm. Oh yeah." I flashed her a smile and handed her my work. I knew it wasn't the smartest choice but I wasn't thinking straight this morning. As my math professor started his lesson I let math be my only focus. Math was the one thing that confused me, frustrated me, but kept my mind completely clear. Today I was thankful for it. "Earth to Issy." Jaz said waving a hand in front of my eyes. I was so concentrated on figuring out what X was for this problem that I didn't realize that class ended 5 minutes ago. "Come on. Let's get coffee." Jaz suggested the best thing. I jumped up happily. "Yes please!" I laughed and clapped my hands. Caffeine is the one addiction I had. Well that and bad movies. Jaz had suggest Starbucks; I told her we weren't basic college students and to take me to a real coffee place. We ended up in the same book store as yesterday. I glanced at the table I was at and decided to check my email.

This is where I'm leaving off for today. I promise Chapter 2 will be longer!
