Epilogue - Little Ghost or Little Bird
3rd Person POV
Y/N Code Name: ROBIN
The sky was slate grey.
Rain scattered gently over the rooftops of the rural compound where Task Force 141 had been wrapping their latest mission. It was meant to be a simple intel retrieval. Quick in, quick out. Ghost had taken point, clearing the west wing, his movements precise and focused, no wasted energy, no hesitation.
But despite the clarity in his actions, his mind was elsewhere.
Back at base.
Back with her.
Y/N.
His wife.
His home.
His girl.
And she was thirty-eight weeks pregnant.
She'd insisted on working until the last possible second, shuffling around the base in oversized fatigues, a comms headset permanently attached as she coordinated logistics and relayed mission feeds from the war room. She was stubborn, focused, still Robin in her bones, even if she rarely wore the name anymore.
"You sure you're okay?" Ghost had asked that morning, days before the mission. He'd crouched beside her at the edge of their shared bed, brushing her stomach with careful fingers.
"Baby's not due yet," she'd said with a grin. "Don't worry."
Ghost hadn't smiled. "That means nothing and you know it."
She leaned in, kissed his covered cheek. "Just come back fast. Don't keep me waiting."
He'd promised.
And now...
"Ghost." Price's voice crackled in his earpiece, tense. "We've got a priority comm from base. It's for you."
Ghost stilled mid-step, heart thumping once.
He tapped the comm. "Go ahead."
Laswell's voice came through next, firm but urgent. "Y/N's in labour."
He froze.
Soap's eyes flicked toward him from across the room. "You alright, mate?"
Laswell continued, "She's asking for you. Correction, she's refusing to push until you get there."
There was a pause.
Then Price, somehow amused, somehow serious, muttered, "Looks like we need to wrap this up fast, lads."

Base Infirmary - Hours Later
The rain had stopped.
But the silence that filled the small white room was heavier than any storm.
Y/N lay still, propped against the pillows, her face pale with exhaustion. Her hair was damp with sweat, eyes unfocused, staring at the wall.
The nurses moved quietly, exchanging murmured updates. Someone handed her water. She didn't drink it.
"Do you want me to hold him again?" one nurse asked gently.
Y/N blinked, slowly turning her head. Then she shook it.
"No," she whispered, voice hoarse. "I'm... I'm okay."
