The woman had wavy shoulder-length black hair that was glossy and shined if the light hit it right, and kind brown eyes. She had milky-white skin, a nice smile, and was dressed like a professional, like they all should be.
Greg knew her type all too well. He was used to the shaking hands, the blushing cheeks, the smiles, and the flirtatious eyes. He was tired of explaining what the situation was, and was tired of having so many girls like her near him.
He didn’t want another girl flirting with him because he certainly didn’t want another Eena situation like the one that had happened so many years ago. Yes, he knew he was handsome, but he was rather awkward too, especially in moments like the one he was sure was coming.
The girl smiled at him, her rosy cheeks becoming a bit redder. “I’m Reini Saunders, new junior agent to Cell Twelve.”
Greg took the offered folder and put it on his desk. He knew, without even looking back, that Eena was holding in laughter. She knew as well as he did that the moment was sure to be awkward, just like the one they had years ago.
Greg took a look at the offered hand and warily shook it with his, dreading the moment that was about to come. “I’m gay.”
With those two words, the girl’s expression visibly fell, and after a few seconds of the awkward handshake, she let go. She smiled again, and Greg felt the awkwardness slip away. “Well that was awkward; finding out your crush is gay.”
Greg grinned. He held out his hand, and shook Reini’s when she took it. “I’m Greg.”
“I’m Reini.”
Switzerland was charming, as always.
It was Reini’s second time to Switzerland, and she was still enchanted by its natural beauty. The smell of freshly cut grass and the scent of coffee wafting through the air along with the mouthwatering sight of melted chocolate on freshly baked pastries made Reini feel better, and as she walked along the cobblestone streets, her solid white stilettos thumped against the stone, a rhythmic staccato barely heard over the din of people having their lunches.
Reini had on a pair of starched black slacks, and a silky white blouse with large sleeves the size of her head and a white and silver belt situated around her slim waist. She had her hair in a perfectly curled bun, a large black onyx necklace was around her neck, and she was holding a big matte black Prada bag.
The mission was simple, as her missions were bound to be from then on, but she couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched, as if a predator were hiding, waiting for the prey. In this case, she was the prey, and it was all she could do from shivering as her skin felt the intent gaze of someone she didn’t know. Years of training prevented her from replacing the stoic look with a look of fear and paranoia, and she quickly walked towards one of the free tables outside a small café in between an ice cream shop and a small restaurant that mainly sold pasta.
The table was round, the table top wooden with a light brown varnish. In the middle of the table was a long metal rod—an umbrella for the rainy days—and small bottles of cinnamon and toothpicks surrounded the hole where the metal rod was, along with a small teapot of milk, a small container for face napkins, and a small container filled with small packets of sugar and cream.
Reini pulled out a chair from underneath the table and sat down on the soft seat, almost sighing aloud in pleasure. The back of the chair was constructed of intricately woven nylon, thus giving everything a much homier look. Reini picked up the café menu with dainty hands, looking over the mouthwatering photos of coffee and pastries. A small bell was situated beside the container of face napkins, and she rang it three times, her face taking on a small smile when she finally saw one of the café employees walking towards her table outside the small establishment. She closed the menu, put her black bag on her lap, and smiled at the woman who had her hair tied up in a neat ponytail, her dainty hands holding a small white notepad with a pencil poised over it.
