"Rohit, stay back for a sec."

The aforementioned person looked back at his captain who had just called him to stay back after dismissing the whole team from the team meeting.

As Rohit walked back inside the room, he couldn't help remembering the days when his teacher would ask him to stay back after class because she didn't want to scold him in front of the whole class.

He hoped Mahi bhai wasn't going to scold him.

"Can you open tomorrow?" Mahi bhai asked suddenly.

"What?" He asked, sure he had heard wrong. A person didn't just go from number 5 to opener suddenly.

"Can you open tomorrow, Rohit?" Mahi bhai asked, patiently.

"I..I..Yes, of course, bhai." Rohit finally managed.

He couldn't quite say no to a request from the man who was currently fighting perhaps half the country to keep him in the team, could he? Plus, Mahi bhai must have thought it through before offering him the opener's position.

Even if that was the position he had received the most criticism for.

—------------------------------------------

Two hours later, all of Rohit's faith in Mahi bhai's decision making skills had been replaced with anxiety and worry. He had been pacing for the last half an hour while Virat, Jaddu and Shikhi played cards on one the beds.

"Arre, Rohit, stop worrying and sit with us." Virat told him. Again. For the sixth time.

"I am opening tomorrow. How can I stop worrying? What if I get out for a duck? What if it's a royal duck? Shikhi, you are taking the first strike tomorrow." Rohit requested the last part from Shikhar who immediately shook his head.

"Na baba na. I don't take first strike. You said yes to bhai, you suffer the consequences."

"Yaaaarr, such friends I have. They don't even help me." Rohit complained.

"I literally brought the same phone as you do so that you can share my stuff after losing yours." Virat deadpanned.

"That's your basic requirement as a friend." Rohit huffed. "Now tell me what to do."

"Run away?"

"Sledge the hell out of the opposition?"

"Say you broke your leg."

"Actually break your leg.

"All bad ideas. As expected." Rohit shook his head at them in disappointment. "Not one idea from the three of you? This is Indian Cricket's future?"

" I have an idea." Jaddu said.

"No pranks allowed in this tournament." Virat reminded him.

Jaddu lowered his hand. "I no longer have any idea."

"I am going to sleep. I will get better idea from my dreams than you idiots." Rohit said, exiting the room.

As soon as he exited, Virat sighed.

Jaddu turned a questioning look at him. Virat just pointed at the bedside table.

Rohit had left his phone again.
