Deployment

Deployment includes any movement from a military Service Member's home station to somewhere outside the continental U.S. and its territories. One example would be when a unit based in the U.S. is deployed to another country to enter into a combat zone.

Everyone had grown closer as time went on. Unfortunately, Tim had received the call from the army saying he needed to be deployed and there wasn't a choice in the matter. His wife, Lucy was understanding of the order but knew she would miss him deeply. Their closest friends were there when he was dropped off at the base, saying goodbye to everyone.

Angela: "Don't worry about them Tim, we'll all be there for her during this time." They hug.

Tim: "Thanks Ang." His final goodbye was to his lovely wife and their two year old daughter.

Tim: "It's going to be okay baby, it's meant to be nine months I've been told." He cups her cheek wiping away her tears.

Lucy: "I know but we'll miss you so much and I had something to tell you."

Tim (softly): "What's wrong?"

Lucy: "You're going to be a dad again."

Tim: "You're pregnant?" She nods and hands him the sonogram.

Lucy: "A month and a half along." Tim kisses her.

Tim: "I'm sorry baby that I can't be here for you. I wish I could but we don't have that option. Please lean on our friends for help, they'll help you out while I can't." She nods and they both turn their attention to their daughter Ivy.

Ivy: "Dada?" She had tears in her eyes as well, he takes her from Lucy.

Tim: "I know sweetie, I'm going to miss you so much as well. But I'll be back okay?"

Ivy: "Lve dada."

Tim: "I love you too sweetie. Now you be good for mama, she needs that from you. Can you do that?"

Ivy: "Yea dada." She hugs him and he pulls Lucy in for the hug as well. Ivy climbs back into Lucy's arms and turns to look at her dad.

Tim: "I'll keep in touch with you guys." He walks off, turning back to see his best friend guiding his wife to the cars.

As he said, they keep in touch with weekly calls for updates and check ins. Lucy sent him updates on their baby's progress. Their friends have been amazing help for Lucy and Ivy. Angela and Nyla are always at the Bradford house daily. Time felt slower than normal for both of them without their other half, but they continued to communicate and even sent letters to each other.

Seven months later, Lucy went into labour and unfortunately Tim couldn't be there via video call due to being in the field but Angela and Nyla stayed with her being that support even when the nurse tried to kick one of them out. They stayed the whole time as she gave birth to the Bradford second baby girl but then received a surprise when discovering that she was carrying twins. The Bradford first son arrived not long after his sister. Later discovering that he held onto his sister hand who helped him out.

Nyla: "You did amazing Lu, Tim is going to be so proud and excited."

Lucy: "Thanks but can we keep baby boy a secret as I want to surprise him when his back."

Angela: "Whatever you want, I can pretend he's my baby when he's back for you and I'll tell Wes about this."

Lucy: "Thanks Ang." She spent two days in the hospital before being discharged. The girls stayed with her while adjusting to the additional kids, Luna stopped by to help out and everyone was shocked about the twins.
