Everybody knows Vico Sotto, ang magiting na Alkalde ng Pasig. Tall, charming, matalino, at may sense of humor na saktong pampagaan ng bigat ng buhay-Pilipinas. Pero kung kilala mo siya beyond the headlines, alam mong he's the type who takes things seriously. Sobra.
Before politics, puro ka-ekekan at kalokohan ang daily routine niya, memes, witty tweets, inside jokes with the boys. Pero ngayon? Third term na bilang mayor. Wala na siya sa kalendaryo. The weight of responsibility is real. Unti-unti, nararamdaman niyang hindi na siya 'yung dating Vico. Parang lahat ng ingay ng buhay niya dati, napalitan ng katahimikan. Hindi masamang katahimikan, pero 'yung klase ng tahimik na parang may kulang.
Until dumating siya. Si Mayumi 'Yumi' Calinao.
And just like her name... she's absolutely not mayumi.
She's loud. Too loud. Parang barangay fiesta ang energy kahit Monday morning. 'Yung tipo ng babae na walang filter, palaban ang tawa, at kanal ang humor. Minsan nga napapailing na lang si Vico. 'Grabe 'to. Ang ingay.'
Pero kahit gan'on siya, hindi puwedeng itanggi, she's magnetic. Bente singko pa lang si Yumi, bata, wild with dreams, and full of sunshine. She's not afraid to speak her mind. Masipag. Madiskarte. Palaban sa buhay. At kahit na hindi pa siya sigurado sa lahat, she walks like she owns the place.
And little by little, she starts to fill the quiet spaces in his life.
Bigla na lang, mas madaling gumising tuwing umaga. Mas magaan ang mga araw kahit sunod-sunod ang problema sa city hall. Mas napapangiti siya kahit walang dahilan.
