The weekend of the concert rolls around and Onyx and I meet everyone at the hotel to get all dressed up.

Onyx and I aren't expecting to drink much, but we brought extra clothes just in case we can't drive home and have to stay at the hotel. Charlie uses her princess privileges to get us a ride in a little limo to the city.

"I'm so excited!" Charlie exclaims for the hundredth time on the ride there. "I've listened to, like, all of her songs in the last couple weeks."

She's been going on and on about this concert since the first time we talked about it. I had to mute the groupchat because of her.

"Which song are you most excited about, (Y/N)?" she asks me.

"I'm not really excited for any one song," I explain. "I don't listen to her music regularly. Her voice is so pretty, though."

"I'm excited for Over You," Onyx chimes in. "Oh! And that 'vacay' song," she continues.

Charlie makes a face at the mention of Vacay to Bonetown. Clearly, she was traumatized.

"If she performs the 'vacay' song... I'm going to look at the merch or something," I reply.

Onyx laughs at me. "You're taking a vacay away from that one!"

"Is it that bad?" Vaggie asks, sounding unenthusiastic.

"It's nasty, for sure," Onyx answers. "I, personally, love her freaky songs."

We make it to Pentagram City and get out near the venue. The walk to the ampitheater itself is long, but we're early, so there's no rush.

We stop by the bar and us girls get drinks before we go to find our seats. We have a great view of the stage, but we're still at the end of the row, so no one will have to stumble over other guests trying to get out. I get seated between Onyx and Alastor at the very end.

Eventually, the lights around the ampitheater dim and the intro music for the opening song starts playing. The whole crowd stands up in anticipation.

The instrumentals play for a minute, building anticipation, before the stage lights up with colors. The curtains slowly open to reveal a giant martini glass at the center of the stage, among other props and decorations.

Verosika can be heard singing the opening verse, but is nowhere to be seen yet.

"Ever since you went away...

I've been haunted...

Haunted..."

Onyx gasps dramatically, grabs my shoulders and shakes me.

"I always get whatever I want...

And I wanted...

I wanted you!"

At the beat drop, Verosika pops up from inside the martini glass and the crowd goes fucking nuts.

The lyrics are powerful and her voice is haunting. She sounds sad, mad, tired. It makes me realize how relatable she actually is.

The lights cycle through all different colors during the song. Verosika eventually jumps out of the martini glass onto the stage and does her hot girl thing, posing and dancing.

"Yeah, I try to look ahead,

Sometimes, I look back instead...

Think I always knew...

Baby, I'll get over it...

I got over you..."

The song concludes and the audience cheers. Everyone remains standing, though - who actually sits in their seat during a concert anyway?

Verosika catches her breath and takes a moment to talk to the audience.

"I gotta say, I wasn't expecting Pentagram City to pop out like this," she jokes. "I love the energy, though. You all aren't too bad."

I look over at Onyx and she's locked in, recording everything on her phone. Charlie looks a little teary-eyed.

"Alright, enough talking," Verosika concludes. "Let's keep the vibes goin'."

Her next songs take the vibes from edgy to energetic. Nothing overly explicit, though. I assume she's saving those for later in the show.

Charlie's in her feelings, Vaggie doesn't seem to care about anything, and Onyx has spent more time recording the show than actually watching it. Alastor seems content with the music right now, though frequently glances around, keeping an eye out for anyone who might try to bother us.

Then, a familiar beat starts playing. Onyx smirks at me and I realize what song it is.

I tap Alastor's shoulder, just enough to get his attention.

"Uh, sorry, can I just squeeze by?" I ask shyly. He steps to the side to let me out of the row. Onyx laughs at me as I walk down the stairs and out of the ampitheater.

I don't hate the song that much. It just makes me uncomfortable when I'm not drunk. Most overly sexual songs do.

I walk all the way to the bar and get another pretty little fruity drink. This venue has several little stands set up, all serving food, merch or drinks. I decide to go look at the merch quickly before I go back.

I turn to head to the merch stand and see Alastor approaching. His toothy smile softens into a more friendly expression upon meeting my gaze.

"Hi, Alastor," I greet him.

"Hello, my dear," he replies fondly, placing a hand on my shoulder as he glares at a guy walking by suspiciously.

"I'm sorry about that," I apologize. "I'll come back."

"Oh, no, sweetheart, I completely understand," he reassures me. "Her lyrics are a bit... explicit."

I laugh. "I didn't mean to cause you any issues by running off."

"No problems caused," he responds. "I wanted to step away as well."

"I take it you don't like her music?" I ask kind of sarcastically, already knowing the answer.

"Not at all," he replies matter-of-factly with a chuckle.

We both take a seat at the bar for a moment.

"I think it's rather tasteless," he continues.

"Well, she is talented," I argue.

"Of course. The first few songs weren't too bad. I can't say the same for the rest."

The bartender comes over and Al orders a whiskey on the rocks. We converse a little while longer, finish our drinks and head back to our seats.

The finale is beautiful. The fog machine and the flames along the edge of the stage create an incredible scene as Verosika sings her heart out.

Once the show is over, we all stop by the merch stand to browse and get more drinks before leaving the venue. We all talk about the show while we walk to the limo.

"That was the coolest thing I have ever done with friends!" Charlie raves.

"It was so badass," Onyx concurs. "Too bad someone had to miss out on half of the show, though," she complains, obviously referring to me.

"You were recording the whole damn time. I missed out on way less than you," I retort.

We get back to the hotel and Onyx and I get our own rooms to crash in for the night.
