"Lauriya?" I asked, and her head snapped up from the book she was reading. She furrowed her brows, and stood.
"Yes?" She asked tentatively.
"I- uh..." I scratched my head, trying to think of what to say. "Some guy said I should be checked for injuries, and that you were a healer," I finally said, hoping I didn't sound weird.
Her eyebrows raised, "You're injured? How? What happened?" She asked, suddenly looking concerned. Definitely a healer.
"Hehe, funny story..." I laughed awkwardly, "I kind of-... er... -fell from somewhere high."
She raised an eyebrow and now looked somewhat confused. She shook her head slightly, then reached for my hand, "Come with me, I'll make sure you don't have any major injuries," She smiled gently, and started leading me to another room.
"Oh- ok."
The room she brought me into was slightly dimmer, with just a small window letting in light. A daybed sat in the corner, while cabinets lined the other walls. It was definitely a medical room.
She directed me to sit down on the daybed, and went off to shuffle through cabinets, grabbing a few items. She walked back over to me a few moments later carrying a small device, and what looked like bandages.
She gently peeled off my older bandages, revealing the cuts and scrapes. Some were the size of cat-scratches, others looked like I got carried away playing with a knife. I admired her efficiency as she worked silently and quickly. She misted my smaller cuts with something from a small canister, and I watched in awe as they disappeared right before my eyes. Gone. Just like that.
"How did that-...? Did that stuff just make my scratches vanish?" I looked up at her with a bewildered gaze.
She gave me a quick look of confusion, then laughed lightly. "I take it you're not from around here?"
"You could say that," I nodded. Much nicer of a conclusion to draw then brain damage. And more accurate too.
"It's an advanced type of spray-salve. It only works on very small wounds, but is effective. It's called mending spray," She lifted the other bandage-like things that she was holding, "These are mending pads. They take longer, but work on larger wounds," She explained, then lifted the pad to one of my larger cuts and placed it on top of it. The pad stuck on its own, without any apparent adhesive.
"Wow," I breathed, watching intently as she did the same with a few others.
"Stand up," She instructed me, and I did. She held out the device she had pulled out, "Hold still," She added as she pressed a button and swept it up and down over me a few times, as if I were being scanned. I pretty much held my breath until she was done. She looked down at a tiny screen on the tiny device, and furrowed her brows.
She looked up at me with a skeptical once-over. "How are you still alive?" She asked quietly. She looked down at her device, then back up at me, "You have a bruised lung, and some very minor internal bleeding, along with two broken ribs."
"Are you sure?" I asked. I found that hard to believe, "Aren't you supposed to feel more, oh I dunno - pain - with those kinds of injuries?"
"Yes," she nodded, raising an eyebrow in confusion. "It's not severe, so it should heal on its own. There's not much I can do without the proper equipment. You'll need to take it easy for now."
I groaned. I hated having to take it easy. It usually meant I was bed-ridden. I was usually a slightly active person. At least to the point that I can't stand having to sit still for a full day, or longer. I nearly lost my mind when my parents had me sit still for a month due to my broken leg when I was fourteen. I'm not sure I ever forgave them for that.
A commotion in the other room drew my attention, and a voice, "Renna! I swear, if you're not here-!"
And just like that, Mr. Annoying walked in, glaring. He was probably upset that I hadn't followed him, and I had run off. It sure took him a while to notice - or at least find me - though.
Lauriya immediately looked up at him, and recognition flashed across her face. I could've sworn I saw a hint of annoyance too. "Ciell," She said simply.
Right, that's what his name was.

Finally, chapter three! Let me know what you guys think!
How do you think Lauriya and Ciell know each other? What happened between them? Who's the little girl? Will Renna forget Mr. Annoying's name again? LOL
Stay tuned for next chapter! ^u^
