I'm going to tell you a story about a man, a myth, a legend, his name is Thorfin the brave he was the greatest warrior I've ever met. No one truly knows his origin, where he was born, or where he comes from. Only thing we know is he was born to fight, he was born for war. Since a young age he was being trained to survive, he didn't start off the warrior we would come to know later. For all legends are made not born. The first time I met Thorfin I was a young lad. He's not that much older than me maybe by a few full moons. He was always a quiet one always alone stayed to his self for most of the time. My village found him one night out in the rain alone, he wouldn't speak a word, but had blood all over his hands. It took a while for him to adjust and get comfortable but eventually he came around. He was a great help around the village hunting, bringing food and other resources to build and expand the place that he now calls home.
Thorfin was so gifted at hunting even when teaching him things he didn't know I would watch him catch on so quickly and became great at everything. I remember one morning we were out hunting it was my first time out and I watched Thorfin sniff out tracks, climb tress with ease and shoot down birds and rabbits. It was so easy for him it was like he wasn't even trying. He helped me get my first kill, teaching me how to be quiet while moving in on a prey. To quickly strike catching them before they know it's too late. On our way back to the village Thorfin quickly pushed me down and told me to stay low and quiet as I lay on the ground all I could hear is a large number of horses riding in the direction of home. I poke my head up, just to get a good look at them, seeing men with large banners and armor with weapons like I've never seen before. Thorfin watched closely I could only assume he's counting the number of men there are and weighing his options. After a few minutes we got up and raced through the woods trying to quickly make it back to find out what's going on.
One thing about Thorfin is he's very paranoid all the time and I don't know why I've always been too afraid to ask. On the way back I can see the scared look on his face. As we are running through the woods racing to get back, I know, and he does too that we are not catching up to horses but that wasn't stopping us from running as fast as we could. We finally made it back to the village and saw the strange men there were so many of them more than we had in our whole village. We couldn't do nothing but just look around as the strange men walk around, our chieftain (Alpha) greeted the strangers with open arms and invited them into our home. He made sure they were warm and feed but also wanted to know what's the meaning of this visit. I always knew about other places of the world and its people but never seen anybody outside of the people of the village. Thorfin leaned over and asked me who are these people. I didn't know at first but getting a closer look at their banners I recognize it; we were taught about the four kingdoms these are Storm soldiers kingdom of the Stormhold. Listening to the Stormholds commander they were sent here by the king. There are 2 kings as of right now King Rallo to the east, he rules the 2 kingdoms there, the one we are seeing now is Stormhold who is ran by lord Bryson, then there is the kingdom of Marrow where king Rallo lives, then there's King Howard he rules just the one kingdom in the south the kingdom of.
I couldn't make out much of anything they were talking about but they did not stay long before heading out not looking too pleased with their visit. Afterwards we rushed in asking the chieftain what the visit was about, he told us we will know soon until then mind our place and help get ready for tonight's celebration where boys become men. Every year we have a trial where a group of 4 boys go into the forest hunting and surviving the night bringing back their kill proving to be a hunter. Only then will you be allowed to hunt with the men. I remember Thorfins trial he had to go alone because he was the only one around the age at the time. I thought it was unfair because it's never been done before this was the first time the chieftain made this decision and it's for an outsider. I thought it was a set up for him to die out there, but the chieftain saw something in Thorfin that people just didn't or refused to. I remember hearing the whispers that night that we'll never see him again. That it's impossible for anyone to survive on their own out there. People must have forgotten that they found him in the woods. Maybe not in the same woods but still alone out there without knowing how long he has been there. I knew he would be back I could feel it in my gut. The next night we stayed up late waiting to see if he'll return, we waited for what felt like forever but he was nowhere in sight. As the chieftain was about to signal to put out the fire, a shadowy figure was spotted walking out of the forrest with a dear being dragged in one hand and a wolf over its shoulders. As he got closer we can also see he is covered in blood. It was Thorfin he was tired and beat up. He dropped to the ground while everyone was looking with disbelief. The chieftain walks over and helps him to his feet he raised his hand and declared him one of us and now a man.
