|Chapter - 10: Until We're Together|

Start from the beginning

“I know Didu, lekin vo log galat galat bolte rhte hai. Aapko toh pata hai Shreya Di humse jalti hain, unhe toh har baat mein taunt karna hota hai. Sneha bhi bol rahi thi ki aap meri real sister nahi ho toh main kyun itni tension kar rahi hun,” Anamika says, her tone laced with disgust.

“Vo Lonavala mein na ek chhotu sa trek hai, par humein teachers ne mana kiya tha udhar jaane se. Aur aapko pata hai hum uss taiyari se nahi gaye they. Sneha aur uska gang jaane wale they. Maine mana kiya, aur bola Di se baat karungi, vo jaisa kahengi waisa karungi. Mujhe pata tha, aap Mumma se bhi puchogi, toh usne mazaak hi kiya. Ki I can take my decisions, aur mujhe aapse puchne ki zaroorat nahi…aur….” Anamika continues, but pauses as she looks at her mom and sister.

“Aur phir usne kaha ki hum sagi behnein bhi nahi hai. Aur khoon ke rishtey nahi hai hamare toh jaldi toot jayenge, yahi kaha na usne?” Ruhana continues to speak.

Anamika just nods her head, tears filling her eyes. Ruhana continues to speak, her tone quivering, “Sneha ne bhi mujhe yahi kaha tha phone par. Vo mujhe pehle se hi napasand karti hai. Aur ab wo taunt maaregi. Usey toh pehle se hi mera tere liye care karna pasand nahi aaya. Kayi baar mujhe hurt karne ki koshish ki, aur isliye vo mujhe taunt karne lagi hai,” she says softly.

“Main jaanti hoon, Di. Lekin Mumma kehti hain na ki hamara rishta toh bahut strong hai. Humara rishta toh dil ka hai, isey koi tod nahi sakta, yeh dhyan rakho,” Anamika says, her tone soft.

“Exactly, jab tak tum dono saath mein ho, sab achcha hi hoga. Aur main jaanti hoon ki tum dono mein toh ek duje ki jaana basti hai. Isliye tum dono pareshan mat ho. Bas ek dusre ka khayal rakho, samjhe!” Ragini kisses each of their heads and asks them to relax while she prepares noodles for her daughters.

Anamika and Ruhana sit on the floor bed in the living room, the former leaning into the latter, their hands intertwined. It seems like they’re sending silent support to each other after the phone conversation that happened a little while ago. Ruhana leans into Anamika and kisses her forehead, knowing her sister must be thinking about the call.

”Anu, zyada mat soch. Aaj hum raat ko movie dekhenge,” Ruhana tries to ease the tension.

Anamika hums in agreement, and at the same time, their mother comes out with three bowls of noodles—two for her girls and one for herself. She knows that both Anamika and Ruhana must be thinking about the phone call, so she settles on the bed beside them.

“Tum dono mujhe kehte ho ki ki main zyada sochti hoon aur tension leti hoon, ab tum dono kyun itna soch rahe ho?” Ragini asks, trying to ease the tension in the room

“Par Mumma, vo log aise kaise kar sakte hain. Ye toh aapne mujhse kabhi chhupaya nahi, par aapne mujhse utna hi pyaar kiya na jitna mere real parents karte. Ruu Di bhi toh mujhse bahut pyar karti hain, par phir log kyun dooriyan banana chahte hain?” Anamika questions, her mother and sister are stunned at the moment.

Ragini moves forward to cup Anamika’s face in her warm hands, “Beta, humne toh kabhi tujhe khud se alag nahi samjha. Haan, maine tujhe janam nahi diya hai, lekin tera janam mere dil se hua hai. Shayad ye bhagwan ka tareeka tha, tere zariye hamari family ko pura karna. Aur jab hum sab ek sath hai toh kya chinta, bache,” she asks, her tone laced with love for both her daughters.

“Exactly, Anu, hum sath hai toh koi kaise humein hurt kar sakte hain? Aur vaise bhi maine aaj hi papa se promise kiya hai ki hamesha tera khayal rakhungi, hamare beech ki cheezein kabhi nahi badlengi

“I promise Di, aisa hi hoga,” Anamika leans into her sister, resting her head on her shoulder.

Ragini smiles at the exchange between her daughters, “Phir kyun chinta karte ho? Chalo, abhi mood thik karo. Aaj sham ko dinner par jaana hai na? Saturday hai aaj,” she says, her tone soft.

“Yess, let’s ping Daddaa!” Anamika chuckles, her mood perking up as she sends a message on the WhatsApp family group.

Luckily, their dad responds immediately, making a slight difference to the girls’ mood. Ruhana and Anamika chuckle at the moment, the air in the room softening while Ragini embraces them in a much-needed hug.

Amidst this chaos, they know that as long as they’re together, they can fight through every obstacle that comes their way and lead a happy life.

To Be Continued.
