- I.
"They annoy me." Maelie remarked, those boys have interrupted the good day of theirs, honestly. Everything was going well for her, until they decided to be all over her, even Tsireya. "Maeile, no. They actually put some fun in this boring day." "That's only because you're with one of those Skxawngs," She teased; it was true. She was with the youngest son of the Former Toruk Makto. Lo'ak. They've been together just a few months after the last war. "He's different" "different? He was the start of the same." Maelie wasn't really a fan of commotion or events. Since the boy's came back from a hunt; it was loud.
After a long while of talking with tsireya in the rocks close to the marui's, we were called by the tsahik and my mother to mend the spices for dinner. They usually dine with the sully kids because the Chief and the Adults dine with each other separate from them.
"Maelie, why are you so quiet?" Aonung asked. Did you really have to ask that you skxawng? She thought "I'm fine, just tired." She managed to get out before getting another fish that the boys hunted earlier. The boys dismissed her presence as they joked around and laughed about something that happened to neteyam earlier. It took these boys long to fully make friends with each other even after the battle; thank eywa, their parents couldn't handle the fights they placed every time they got the reason to be mad. It was so stupid. Maelie, Kiri and Tsireya talked the whole supper since the boys were too focused on themselves anyway. Tuk usually joined them but tonight the girl was longing for her mother's comfort, so she dined with the adults, not far from the children.
After dinner, everyone went to their own family marui's. Well, not Maelie at least. She gave her mother an excuse which she didn't even care to listen to due to her body failing her in giving a shit. She was tired.
She stayed at the sand, sitting. The sea was beautiful after eclipse, the bioluminescence of the corals lit up the ocean. As she got lost in the beauty of it, she didn't notice the footsteps that faintly sounded behind her. "Can't sleep? Or just looking for silence?" "Second option. You ruined it." she hasn't even looked yet but she recognized Neteyam's voice. The boy sat down next to her; he didn't say anything for a while. She didn't know what was occurring but it wasn't the usual awkward silence they used to share. It was, comfortable.
"It's beautiful." She mentioned before slightly smiling. He looked at her, even if she didn't see due to her focus on the ocean. "It is." He agreed before sitting up. "Better than the forest?" it took a minute before he answered. "No, not even close." "Don't you ever miss home, neteyam?" she asked. "What? Are you trying to make go back?" He teased, "Skxawng. I'm just asking." She sternly said before looking back at him. "Sometimes. Sometimes I wish we never left, But.." He paused and looked at me for a moment. "..sometimes I wish we'd never leave." He looked back at the sea then laid down. "What do you mean by that?" I asked, confused. "Nothing you need to worry about fishlips." He chuckled. "Do not call me that." She defended.
