Once the train had come to a stop, we all quickly got off.
" 'Right then. First years, this way, please!" We heard the booming voice of Hagrid as he came closer, carrying what I believed would be an oil lamp.
"Come on now! Don't be shy!" Hagrid bellows.
"Hagrid, don't say it like that." I internally cringe as Harry, Ron, and I make our way to him.
"Hello Harry, Scarlett." Hargrid seemed looking down at us.
"Hello Hagrid." Harry and I say in unison.
"Whoa." We turn to see Ron staring up in amazement at Hagrid.
"Right then. This way, to the boats!" Hagrid yells as he leads the way towards the boats near the black lake.
After being sorted into group, we began our journey across the lake.
We soon get a closer view of the beautiful and lit castle seeming to have been built on top of a large mountain or cliff.
"Hauntingly beautiful." I think mesmerized by what my eyes were seeing.
Finally, we make it across the lake to be then guided into the castle and up a couple of stairs.
"Welcome to Hogwarts." An elderly lady in dark green robes says as we gather on the staircase in front of her.
"Now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates, but before you take your seats, you will be sorted into your houses. They are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Sytherin." She concludes this part of her speech starring directly at Draco.
"Now, while you're here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you points. Any rule breaking and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup..." McGonagall was then interrupted as Neville Longbottom runs forward at a toad on the ground in front of her.
"Trevor!" He exclaims, picking up the toad.
Everyone around us begins to laugh as Neville looks up at perfessor McGonagall.
They stare at each other for a second longer before Neville moves away back into the crowd.
"The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily." She says before leaving us waiting impatiently on the staircase.
"Is it true, then?" I hear a voice say from behind where Harry, Ron, and I stood.
"Here he goes. He's going to ruin his friendship with Harry before it even starts, " I think as my mood deflates.
We all turn to look at Draco.
"What they're saying on the train. Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts." He says, looking straight at Harry, who is standing by my side.
"Way to gain all the attention, Draco." I roll my eyes as everyone begins to whisper around us.
"This is Crabbe and Goyle. And I'm Malfoy." Draco says before walking closer.
"Draco Malfoy." He finishes standing in front Harry.
Ron begins to snicker at Draco.
Draco quickly looks over at him.
"Think my names funny,do you?" Draco says as Ron stops laughing.
"No need to ask for yours. Red hair and a hand me down robe. You must be a Wesley." Draco sneered at Ron before looking at Harry.
"You'll soon find out that some Wizarding families are better than others, Potter. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort. I can help you there." Draco says after side eyeing me ans Ron.
"Fucking rude." I muttered.
Draco then looks at me.
"Nobody asked you, filthy mudblood." Draco sneers at me.
"The fuck did you just called me!?" As loudly say in front of a the entirety of our first year students.
"Now I highly doubt your mother taught you to speak like that. Looking like a bald headed baby with you hair slicked back like that." I huffed angrily at the blond in front of me.
"How dare you talk to me like that you peasant." He glared at me angrily as his ears began to turn red.
"I will talked to you how every I like you stuck up prick. I think we are quite fine not being friends with the likes of you." I huffed looking back at Harry.
"Wouldn't you agree?" I say eyebrows furrowed and slightly glaring at Harry.
"I agree with Scarlett. I think I can tell the wrong sort myself, thanks." Harry says looking up at Draco.
They stared each other down before McGonagall had appeared and tapped Draco on his shoulder with rolled up parchment.
Draco looks back at McGonagall then back at us before walking away.
"We're ready for you now. Follow me." McGonagall says leading us to the Great Hall.
As soon as we walked in I took in the things I had only seen on screen. The floating candles. The four separate tables filled with students, the ceiling that looked like the night sky.
"It's not real, the ceiling.." Hermione says from beside me making me jump.
"It's just bewitched to look like the night sky." She continues on staring at it just like me.
"Huh, and what about the candles?" I asked.
"A levitation charm if you must know." Hermione says proudly.
I smile at the pride she has in her knowledge of magic.
"How was she so terrifying in the books. I never did get the chance to read them." I think innocently as McGonagall begins speaking.
"Alright, you will all wait here until you name is called." She says unfolding the parchment.
She then goes through the list of students in alphabetical order by last name.
Hermione, then Draco, then Harry all placed in the correct houses slytherin and Gryffindor.
"Sarah Summerwood." She calls once everyone had calmed down.
I walked up the three stairs and sit on the wooden stool as the hat is placed on my head.
"Ah, so you're that muggles daughter." Says the hat into my mind.
I scrunch my brows thinking of my mother wondering if she has went here she would have told me.
"Ugh, not her. The other the one." The hat said digging deeper into my memories slowly a faint memory came through. A blurry women's face and her muffled voice was humming some kind of song.
"Who is that?" I asked the hat.
"Your real mother. I'm surprised Dumbledore has allowed you to stay in the younger women's care. Guess she didn't raise you badly though."
He stated as he continued to flip through my memories as a child.
"A very bright child you'd do well in Ravenclaw but you also have the kindness of a Hufflepuff and the bravery of a Gryffindor. I would definitely find putting you in Ravenclaw as a good choice but your taste for adventure is too strong to just sit still. So where to put you." He continues to contemplate still looking through my memories.
I began to think as well.
"I would get a lot more information from being in Gryffindor that's for sure and the trio wouldn't hate me just for being in slytherin automatically but I don't want Slytherin to be seen as just a house for dark wizards. Not all of them chose that path specifically one in particular." I sigh coming to my conclusion.
"So you've made up your mind. Quite and interesting choice especially since you father was a.." He cuts his thought off before yelling outloud.
"Slytherin!"
