Zer0 Logs: Introduction 1.0

Oh! that was a time...but now things have..changed. Management has changed in this lab. Well- more like things got totally fucked up.

Well! hehe... for starters uhhh: Turns out the speakers' little population crisis happened because some objects were becoming resistant to their soundwaves! Why? Because their genes somehow began to evolve simultaneously. The signals made objects (and other less complicated beings) build new bodies for the sound-based beings, and now they just weren't doing that anymore since the evolution. The speakers thought this was a genetic failure or disease that had to be dealt with as quickly and cheaply as possible; after all, objects made up the vast majority of their box-building hosts.

Well we found out that the clones were rapidly evolving this trait because the speakers were treating them all like S H I T. Every speaker kept going all "budget cuts budget cuts budget cuts"  on every little need, every little trait of food, every piece of tech, I think they cut off their immune systems at one point to save a buck! And well? The speakers had NO reason to do this. They had become so consumed with such a deep capitalist rot, that their own existence in this reality eventually became a financial burden in their very own eyes. The creatures that they relied on to give them new bodies were being treated lesser than you could do to any living thing.

It was no longer science, it was a corrupt business. As far as I know, they sold the labs to us, the exact team of speakers that worked there just kinda vanished, and all of them are gone and off to other places. We haven't heard from their home planet actually and they have completely cut off any and all communication with us (In all honesty, I think they sold everything there too, and the home world, and the-...nevermind.), Our homworld is pretty confused where the hell they went- last we heard is that they flew off in their cheap little saucers to somewhere else- but that was it.

Then we learned about Four.

He was truly great, he had PHD's and he had the capability to run labs, yes.

But he told us he finally aced his object-empathy test and understood their psychology- he lied.

He did manage to point out a red flag in the speakers' past management (severe corner cutting on tech and life sustaining materials) before we looked in ourselves. He said he'd fix them with his own earnings, he didn't.

Guy couldn't understand objects at all, he couldn't understand they were not animals- they were like us, they felt pain, they cried and they screamed when they shed blood and broke their bones. He didn't try to listen to them because his emotions got in the way of everything. He kept the lab a wreck to spite them.

He didn't even care about finishing the project the speakers left behind, he already knew how hollow they were and the project was abandoned the moment he stepped in, but he kept the façade up to the objects to make them at least listen to him. Didn't work either.

We were severely disappointed in him, greatly. We also were severely disappointed in X for not doing enough to help the poor beings from their endless torment. We were convinced that the collective-gene pool of the lab objects would soon bare it's teeth against algebraliens thanks to Four, thankfully that is not the case, but that is a miracle really.

Nobody really wanted to develop allergies to objects or anything. Or get bitten on sight, y'know?

I mean...bite Four. Not us.
