Laughter echoed through the school hallway, revealing the hardened hearts of the people of this world.
Ethan stood with his head lowered to the ground, his books scattered at his feet, his face pained not from the beating he received but from the embarrassment he felt, he bent down to pick up his books, his hands shaking, and Ethan fumbled inside him
"why....., why is my life like this".
In the school corridor, Ethan was a first-year high school student, carrying a heart heavy with loneliness, he did not know a father, he only mentioned his name in the stories of his mother who accompanied him since his first steps in life, she was his only family, he did not feel the presence of anyone else except Oliver, whom he first met in kindergarten, Oliver was a colleague and friend, sharing all the bittersweet moments together, but life did not spare Oliver either, he also faced bullying challenges that did not stop insulting him.
With his slender body, blue eyes, black hair, and pale skin, Ethan was the target of bullying from his freshman year of middle school until the beginning of his senior year of high school. James, Lucas, and Monica tormented him daily.
Heavy school hours pass, and as the sun sets, Ethan returns home, trying to hide the scars of his sore heart. He opens the door quietly, careful not to wake his mother, but the loud creak of the door wakes her up:
"Dear son, are you back? Come in, mommy missed you."
Ethan put down his bag, took off his shoes, then headed to his mother's room, and with sweat pouring from his brow, he entered his mother's room with a slight smile. He approached her and hugged her like a warrior returning from an arduous battle. A tear slipped down his cheek and he quickly wiped it away.
"How was your day, my skinny Deer?" I asked.
Ethan smiled as he scratched his head:
"It was a great day. I had a great time with Oliver and our new friends."
Noticing his underlying sadness, she chose not to press him.
"Glad to hear it, son."
Ethan stood up, smiling lightly:
"Relax, Mom, I'm going to clean the house and make dinner."
After two hours of cleaning the house and preparing dinner, the smell of delicious soup spread throughout the house, Ethan fed his mother until she was full and looked at her tired face that almost fell asleep, then he got up, asked her permission and walked out of the house as usual, and as she stared at the wall, she said in a voice heavy with sadness:
"Son, I know you are struggling at school. Your lies don't fool me; you scratch your head every time you lie. Forgive me, my son... I don't have the power to change this situation. Louis, why did you let me endure this alone? Your son and I need you..."
Outside, Ethan arrives in a dense forest bathed in silver moonlight. Memories of the bullies and their mocking laughter echoed in his mind.
The dark corners of the forest were silent and lifeless, but inside Ethan, angry screams echoed:
Ethan stood up and raised his head to the sky, the forest was silent, and suddenly Ethan let out a cry of pain that he had been hiding since the morning
"Why? What did I do to deserve this? All I want is to live a normal life, is that too much to ask?"
Ethan's pulse raced with rage.
He hit a tree with all his might, then screamed in pain. Ethan stepped back in pain, tripping over a tree trunk that was in his way.
and fell into a black hole.
Ethan's mind raced and the pressure around him increased.
He whispered softly:
"Is this the end? Yes... Mom, forgive me, this is my destiny; I'm going to meet my father now."
He felt a strong shock in his head
Hours later, he woke up with his head throbbing with pain, groaning:
"Uh... Painful... Where am I? It's so dark."
A red light reflected in Ethan's face, and he got up with difficulty, groping and stumbling, looking for its source. After a few minutes in a tunnel-like corridor, a Roman-style stone pillar with a chess piece in the shape of a bull appeared in front of him.
Ethan approached it, hesitant to touch it, but his curiosity compelled him to continue. As his hand approached the piece, the room grew hotter and hotter, but he didn't notice, as he was too focused on the red light shining from it. Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain shoot through his arm, and he cried out. It didn't take a second for the ground to shake like crazy and the place was going to collapse on Ethan's head
His eyes widened in fear as he ran, trying to dodge the rocks falling on top of him, heading for a moonlit exit.
towards a moonlit exit. Ethan put all his hope in that last leap towards that exit and narrowly escaped. Our hero lay in that place next to a highway, trying to regain his breath, and then he felt a light sting on his arm and lifted it up to try to examine it, but what he saw was strange.
"What's that? A tattoo?"
