I swear, the days just kept stackin’. One minute I was lockin’ in with Dre at Ruthless, talkin’ over last-minute changes on the promo run for Eazy-Duz-It, next minute I’m back in the studio reviewin’ mixes, signin’ paperwork, takin’ phone calls I ain’t even wanna answer. Being Eazy-E had its perks, but damn if it didn’t come with a whole fuckin’ mountain of stress.
We had this album release comin’ up, and I had my hands full with everything from photo shoots to last-minute beat tweaks. There was even some drama with Bone Thugs gettin’ their shit together—it was a nonstop fuckin’ rollercoaster. And while I was doin’ all that, my mind kept slippin’ back to her. Korina. That smart-ass mouth and those soft-ass eyes.
I knew I told her we’d go out. I wanted to. But time wasn’t on my side, and the next thing I knew, night had hit and I was still knee-deep in industry bullshit.
Korina’s POV
She had done her hair soft and curly, something that framed her face just right. The dress she picked out hugged every curve like it was made for her—short but not trashy, with just enough skin to tease but not enough to give it all away. She even skipped the heavy makeup. Didn’t need it. She looked good. Real good. And she knew it.
But as the clock kept ticking, the disappointment settled in like smoke in a closed room. Eazy hadn’t shown. No call. No knock. Nothin’.
“Fuck this,” she muttered under her breath, standing up and storming into her room.
She peeled off the cute little outfit, throwing it onto the bed and pulled out something else. Something tight. Something bold. A deep red two-piece that had her stomach out and a slit up the thigh that dared anyone to try her. If she wasn’t going on a date, then fine—she’d chill. And if he came knocking, well… he’d see what he missed.
Then the knock actually came.
She froze. Looked at the clock. Narrowed her eyes.
She opened the door halfway, arms crossed tight under her chest.
Eazy stood there, still in his usual dark fit, but for the first time—no shades, no locs. Just his face. Those sharp eyes staring right into her like he could see through the wall she was building.
"Damn," he said almost too casually, his eyes flicking down for a split second before forcing them back up. "You answerin’ the door like that? You tryna kill a nigga?"
Korina rolled her eyes. "Don’t flatter yourself. I was about to go to sleep."
"Look—I know I fucked up. I shoulda called. I had some shit go down at Ruthless today. Like, real industry shit. Not some excuse." He sounded realer than usual. Less slick talk, more... human.
She stared at him for a long second. His energy was different tonight. Still Eazy, but stripped down a little. Raw.
"You got ten minutes," she said, finally stepping aside to let him in.
He walked in, trying hard not to keep glancing at what she was wearing, but he slipped.
"You always walk around your house lookin’ like a whole fuckin’ fantasy?"
She smirked. "Only when I expect better company."
He chuckled, slow and low, sinking into the couch like he’d finally taken his first breath of the day.
"I’m not tryna play you, K. I swear. I just been stretched thin. Shit ain’t been easy."
"You think I don’t get that? I get it, Eric. But damn—say something. You had me sittin’ around feelin’ like some option. I don’t play about my time."
He nodded, eyes locked on hers. "You right. That’s on me. But I’m here now."
The energy between them shifted. Slower. Closer. She sat down on the armrest next to him, not all the way on the couch, but just close enough.
"So what now?" she asked.
"Now I tell you again—damn, you look good tonight. And not just like ‘club fine.’ Like... ‘make-a-nigga-forget-his-name’ fine."
She laughed despite herself. "You still talkin’ slick."
"It’s what I do best," he grinned.
Their eyes locked. And for a second, the world quieted.
And for once, Eazy wasn’t rushin’. Wasn’t playin’ the game. He was just there.
