Ch. 7

I feel my face flush, and I turn to look away from the two of them. Shadow's eyes were burning a hole in the back of my head.

Sonic runs up to us, pulling us both into a group. Shadow quickly pushes him off, but I decide to return the hug, which, unbeknownst to me, puts Shadow off. Only a moment after we release both our faces with a slight blush.

Shadow then, through gritted teeth, "The only me." Shadow punches Sonic, who dodges, breaking the rock apart. Shadow scoffs, "You just don't listen. What part of, 'Our home doesn't exist anymore!' are you not understanding?"

They land on a rock, and I follow behind Shadow. His energy levels were high, it was causing my energy to emanate from my palms.

Sonics' eyes widen and his smile falters, his face twisted with a miserable look, "What did you just say?" I hold my breath and look to Shadow; we share a glance before he speaks.

"What do you think I've been trying to tell you? When you broke the Paradox Prism, you broke our reality. Green Hill is gone. It doesn't exist anymore!" He throws his hands open, frustrated, his brows pinching together.

Sonic, not feeling all too great about this newly found information, shakes his head slightly," I know I caused this. It just keeps getting worse."

Clearing my throat, I offer a soft glance at Sonic, "There's something you need to see, Sonic, the situation at hand may be worse than what you had expected. We need you to listen."

Shadow sighs, his ears bounce as he shakes his head, "Follow me."Shadow quickly takes off, eyeing me down. Sonic follows him, jumping off rocks along the way.

I slowly follow behind Sonic, figuring that this would not end well for either party. I am glad to see them not fighting, though.

'Liar, you want them to fight over you'

'Shut up'

Sonic breaks the awkward silence between us all, "How did you end up in here?"

"I chased you up the Temple Mountain and into the cave just as you shattered the Prism. So, I used the Chaos Emerald to teleport out. But when I reappeared, I was here. -"

"Stuck between the Shatter spaces." Sonic finishes Shadow's sentence, not long before passing by the other portals.

"Yeah..." Shadow says rather dryly, everyone's ears flattening for a bitter moment. I glance at Sonic, who has now caught the eye of the gateways. Shadow seems to notice as well, and we come to a stop.

"So that must be the Gateway."Rainbow luminescent Lights glow on Sonic's shoes as we close in on the gateway. I notice my own body and quills have that same glow to them, I can feel the power pulsing in my head, and my fingertips have a static charge to them.

"Have you two been able to see me this whole time?"

"Not exactly." Shadow and I say in unison. Shadow continues to speak, though, sighing, "When you get going fast, you kick up Prism energy and it thins the veil to the Void. It's like it's opening a portal through the Gateway."

Sonic clicks his finger as he figures something out, finally the dots connecting, "So that must be how I teleported into No Place. I was looking for Nine, I started running fast, and then suddenly I portalled out of New Yoke."

I note the smirk on both of their faces. I lock eyes with Shadow for a moment, and this seemed to slightly bother Sonic for some reason. Shadow flies off, leaving the Portal. Sonic follows him, then I do shortly after, my dress flowing lightly in the breeze.

"We've tracked you as you've gone from Gateway to Gateway," Shadow exclaims, slowly down to meet me before pulling me back ahead with him, his hand near my back to try and get me to run quicker.
